"The hotel is fairly new and therefore really modern and clean. There is a spa on site which is ideal after a days walking. The free shuttle bus into the heart of Salcombe is a great idea as the walk does involve a few steep hills although this is how we travelled into Salcombe most days. The hotel is right on the beach and is in a very quiet location. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. If like us you come here in the winter and you want to walk in and out of Salcombe then remember to take a torch with you as it is pitch black and a mobile may not be sufficient."

"We had a lovely view towards Torquay theatre & harbour from our room. Breakfast was buffet style with hot & cold options. We ate in the Brasserie/Compass Bar area for our evening meals. Food was not cheap, but it was delicious! Had the lightest sticky toffee pudding ever! Room was a decent size with a shower over the bath. Tea & coffee making available in room/supplies refreshed. Hotel was nicely decorated fir Christmas. Staff were very helpful - thank you! "

"Wonderful country house hotel in about 200 acres of stunning grounds. Lots of outdoorsy things to do. The sitting rooms are glorious with open fires and the staff are attentive and there are lots of little touches that make the hotel stand out. The food is excellent, eat in the Great Western Restaurant if you can. Breakfast excellent. "

"This is the first visit to the imperial Torquay but will definitely be going back. The hotel is like it has been plucked out of a poirot movie, grand staircases, Chesterfield sofas, big wingback chairs, beautiful, right up my street. Had a double deluxe with a sea view and the room was huge, and spotlessly clean. 2 comfy chairs to take in the sea view, robes and slippers, toiletries and plenty of tea coffee and bottled water. The bar was reasonably priced, did not have the breakfast so can't comment on the food. It's a 5 minute walk to the harbour and 10 to the town, there is a harvester pub next door practically that are open all day and you can book a table. It was quiet when we went due to the time of year but still had a pleasent time. The on site parking is plentiful and £8.50 per night. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the imperial Torquay, the hotel was charming, elegant and full of character, just wish I had tried the pool and Spa, will pencil it in for when I go back. "
