Our new favorite hotel to stay in Tokyo. The location is prefect right next to the train station, food, sumo venue and the beautiful river. The room/suite was incredibly quiet and spacious. Our room faced the river with panoramic views. The staff were friendly and polite! The restaurant (anchor) delicious. I recommend the scallops and mushroom dish. We will definitely be back! Highly recommended booking here!!

Our second time staying at The Gate Hotel Ryogoku. Very peaceful area, but within a short train ride or walk to plenty of interesting sites. Very close to the JR station. Spacious and Clean rooms with a large bathroom and a great view of the Sumida River.

Staff and hotel are lovely. We really did not appreciate how good we had it here before touring the rest of Japan. This has been the only liveable sized room we stayed in, it has definitely outshined it’s competitors.

Very modern hotel near Ryogoku station, only within few mins walk. Hotel is next to the river, it should be a very lovely area to walk around if the weather was more cooler! The twin room is very spacious, clean. We only stayed for 1 night and didn’t have time to explore the nearby museum and stadium.

Noisy, but good for sumo fans..
The Sumida river view was constantly bombarded by train and street traffic. View was ok, but noise of the subway was very noticeable. The laundry service was nonexistent, especially on the weekend. Had to go to laundromat 20 minutes away, and no supplies. The plus side was easy access to watch some sumo matches during some tournament being held that Sunday.

The hotel was in an excellent location. 5 minute walk from station which took you anywhere you needed to go. Local shops were also minutes walk away which was very handy. The hotel itself is beautiful. Our room was stunning looking over the river, decor and cleanliness were fantastic. Would highly recommend and definitely stay again.

The location is great. It is close to the train station and lots of restaurants around the hotel. The hotel is located by the river. The scenery is great, but my room was faced to the highway. It was noisy, especially after midnight. There were lots of trucks passing and I had a hard time to go to sleep.

Location of the hotel is great as we booked this hotel so that we can watch the sumo match. The queen bed is comfortable and hard enough not to be disturbed by the toss and turn of your partner. Service at the front desk felt a bit cold.
