Gem in Ueno
Reasonably priced and very clean hotel. Facilities are basic but staff are polite, cleaning persons are very hardworking and meticulous, and location is 2 mins away from the JR Ueno station

Next to Ueno JR station, easy access to train. The room is typical Tokyo hotel size. It is more the 70s style hotel room. But it will serve you fine for overnight stay. Plenty of choice for food nearby , especially there are 3 restaurant at the hotel annex building side. If you want quick bite there is a Matsuya and Yoshinoya operate 24/7 less than 5 min walk from the hotel. The hotel require you give out room key when you leave the hotel out for the day and they will close the door after mid-night. They do charge 300 yen (City Hotel tax ? ) when I checked in, didn't have the same experience when I use other hotel in Ueno area. I guess maybe the price already included?

Next to Ueno JR station, easy access to train. The room is typical Tokyo hotel size. It is more the 70s style hotel room. But it will serve you fine for overnight stay. Plenty of choice for food nearby , especially there are 3 restaurant at the hotel annex building side. If you want quick bite there is a Matsuya and Yoshinoya operate 24/7 less than 5 min walk from the hotel. There is a Wendy's right at the corner of the street if you prefer western style fast food. The hotel require you give out room key when you leave the hotel out for the day and they will close the door after mid-night. I am not sure if it is due to Sakura blooming season Friday night. It is quite noisy outside of the hotel (The back street of the hotel have some and there are quite a few drunk yelling non-sense after midnight.

We stayed here for two nights in February. The convenience of the location can’t really be beat, as it’s right next to Ueno Station. Here’s some pros and cons: Pros: • Super convenient • Great staff • Nice sized room (for a business hotel) • Basement restaurant breakfast was excellent. • Clean hotel • Our room had two beds, with enough space for our luggage. Cons: • There was some peeling wallpaper by the window. • The window faced a wall. • Bathroom was small, but not bad, just small. • We noticed an odd smell when we first entered, but that did vanish after opening the window and where came back, so. As far as business hotels go, this is one of the best I’ve stayed in. Yes, I’d stay here again, especially during short layovers between travel across Japan. Good hotel for the price.

The location is incredibly convenient from Ueno Station. Front desk staff and breakfast staff are very nice and friendly. Check in was quick and there are nice treats for guests. My room was spotless, well-appointed, and quiet. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

This was a very convenient location just steps from the subway station. The sense of arrival is quite tired with a lobby full of suitcases and minimal appeal. Arriving in the lobby gave me pause on the hotel. The location more than made up for lobby and the room provided good basic small but comfortable accommodation. I would stay here again, but would be aware of what to expect. Thank you
