"My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Castle Inn. Situated in Bassenthwaite, it's just a 15-minute drive into Keswick. There's also a bus that gets you there in 20 minutes - the bus stop is right outside the hotel. There is free on-site parking, and from the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. All the people we encountered were lovely, from the receptionist to the bar and restaurant staff. We had a family room, consisting of a king-size bed and two singles. There was a lounge area with TV, large wardrobes, a second TV facing the double bed, and a desk area with lots of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milk, biscuits, water, etc. The beds were really comfortable, and there was a fan in the room. The bathroom was clean and well-equipped. A bath, separate shower cubicle, and plenty of complimentary toiletries, even toothbrushes and toothpaste. The view from the room was lovely - it overlooked the gardens, tennis court, and putting green. The restaurant served a good selection of meals, with plenty of options for the kids and vegetarian options too. I had the Cumberland Curl (sausage), with mash and vegetables, which was very tasty! On-site facilities include a gym, heated pool, hot tub, sauna, and steam room. The kids loved the pool! Breakfast was excellent, with continental and cooked options available. Although the hotel is currently being renovated, this had no impact on our stay. We will definitely stay here again when we next visit the Lake District."

"Looked like it had been painted and decorated inside, very fresh. Outside still needs some work. Beds were great, and quiet, slept well. Would definitely come again."

"Fantastic position in relation to town- lovely garden and terrace. Great staff and delicious food. Bathroom rather disappointing with very few toiletries and no extractor fan. View from rooms 321 and 322 rather sad to look out on as everywhere else in Keswick looks so magnificent! Had a fabulous stay though and plan to return next year!"

"Great area and a nice looking historic building. Front desk was helpful and kind. It was clean and had some great amenities. Only negative is there is not a fridge in the room which wasn’t a big deal for us but it is something to be aware of! "
