"The Lodge itself is so beautiful! You are greeted by a cozy fire place entryway, sitting area, and bar. The bar is only open on weekends. The room was very clean and the bed and pillows were SO comfortable!! Our room just happened to be right by the employee entry door. The door is heavy and loud and we heard it slam shut all night long and early morning. Other than that, it was a nice place to stay. It is less than 5 miles from downtown Nelsonville."

"This hotel was awesome!!! The Key West themed decor was so fun!! The salt water pool was so relaxing. Our room was super clean and stocked with hot beverage options, a little fridge and a sound machine! The ambient light was a nice touch. The breakfast was yummy, and the staff was super friendly and very attentive and accommodating. I will definitely stay here again, when I return to Hocking Hills!!"

The cabin was so well insulated from the cold that we only ran the heater in the morning and evening for ~15 minutes and it kept itself a comfortable temperature (we were there mid October). The hosts provided extras like matches, lanterns, and chairs around the fire among others that made our visit even better. "When I think of primitive I think of a tent and sleeping bags and a trip to outhouses or a private spot to do your business. Cabins in a Clearing is a step up; though the bathroom arrangements are as described above. There are porta potties but quite away from two of the three cabins. That isn't fun. People definitely permanently live here in their campers too, and their arms length away from your spot, so be prepared to make some friends….the owner stopped replying to me so they don’t get a great review.
