"It’s a bit faraway from the harbour if you are planning to walk. But if you are in a car then no issues at all. Use the co-op parking at the town centre for Whitby harbour visit. The attached pub was very good. Loved the fish and chips . "

"The Spa Hotel sits just above the gorgeous coastline with an easy path down to the seaside. It is a slightly steep hill up to the town center, but that's easily walkable. The restaurant was excellent and everyone so kind and friendly. I saw the most spectacular sunrise and sunset at the property. You can't help but fall in love with the Hotel and it's natural beauty in the seaside surroundings."

"The location was close to the harbour area and the room was lovely. The only downside was that the room was on the second floor of an old Victorian 3 storey house and the stairs were a feat in themselves. Also the parking was difficult to sort out as we had to drive to the tourist information building in the town down by the harbour. Once sorted, parking outside the property was easy. The main reception area was welcoming and had lots of complimentary breakfast cereals and hot drinks available....

"Overall pleasant stay, presented well and clean. Amazing breakfast with friendly staff. Room was generous size. Our main complaints are the floodlight shining through the window all night with thin curtains, speaker in the ceiling downstairs that hasn’t been soundproofed so there’s fairly loud music playing when trying to sleep and lack of decent shower that’s also nearly impossible to set at a consistent temperature. "It's a really nice small hotel, the staff were really friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good, the room was really pleasant and the location is great. The only downsides were a bed that was too soft (for me) and the difficulty in finding a parking space nearby."

"Whitby is overpriced for overnight accommodation. Unless you are here for more than two nights the YHA is perfect. Great location (unless you don’t like walking uphill) beautiful views, free parking, basic but very comfortable beds and an amazing breakfast for £10 (2024) Excellent "

"We really enjoyed staying at Haven Crest. We were made to feel welcome and we liked the location. It is quiet and close to the coast and there was a pub nearby for dinner. Breakfast was very nice."

Winter weekend away

"Second visit to this lovely hotel. Staff are very friendly and clearly passionate about making your stay memorable. Room was spacious and cosy, Food was amazing and exciting, always great seeing a full restaurant. Good selection of beers and I think I counted 42 bottles of gin tantalise the taste buds. Breakfast was plentiful and relaxed. Having my dog with me, the hotel is very dog friendly and a lovely welcome pack with them in the bedroom and breakfast bowls by the tables. I can’t recommend this hotel enough, and enjoyed my repeat visit, and will be revisiting next summer."

Charming country cottage

"Esk View Cottage is a fabulous base for exploring the Yorkshire Moors. Its location overlooking the river is stunning and the sound of the water very peaceful and relaxing. It is a 90 second walk from the NYMR station of Grosmont which we made great use of and the steam trains gave a really charming feel. Will definitely return. "

Lilac Cottage

"Overall, the property was warm and comfortable and in terms of its location it was exactly what I was looking for. The bedroom I used was spacious, clean and had plenty of storage space, same with the bathroom. I felt the decor in the main downstairs sitting room looked tired and the covers on the sofa were quite grubby. However,,my main concerns are as follows. There is a lack of adequate lighting on the path. The light at the gate only comes on when you actually reach the gate. There are four steps before this and they are very difficult to see in the dark. During my stay there were several spells of heavy rain and I noticed that the annexe/games room had several leaks in the roof. Finally, when I went out the back to use the bins, I found both full to overflowing,so it looks as if they haven't been emptied for some time. While I was generally satisfied with my stay and would book the property again, I felt I should draw these matters to your attention. "
