Weather in Kanazawa was inclement and perhaps we should have been warned to bring umbrellas offered by the accommodation. Minor detail but otherwise the staff were super helpful and friendly. Such a beautiful accomodation, loved the stay and would return again. The streets are narrow so the taxis/ cars can only drop you at the closest side street, not at the front door. Not many restaurant...

"Amazing house to stay in, would highly recommend for the experience. It was very comfortable with all the expected amenities. The host was also lovely and gave a few local restaurant recommendations to us. It’s about 25-30 minutes walk from the castle & station, although very easy to get taxis if it’s later in the evening. There are a few good coffee shops within 10 minutes walk also. "

"Location, location, location! The property is located near all tourist locations. 25-30min walk from train station. 5-10 min from castle, gardens and samurai district. There is a beautiful shrine across the street. You’re also less than 5 min walk from the Omicho fish market. The staff were attentive to our needs. Would highly recommend it."

"If say it's a hotel, rather say it's an apartment. Basically you take the whole apartment yourself, good for family to stay together. Staff is nice and happy to welcome everyone. Nice view from top of the hotel and close to other major spots"

"We love our stay at Kazueya! It gave us a chance to truly experience the ryokan and how locals live. We especially enjoyed the peaceful night in our surroundings :) In addition, one of the staffs (a young lady) at Pacific hotel was super helpful. Due to the language barrier, she helped me to get bus tickets to shirakawago and to Takayama. I can't thank her enough for that! Overall, we are very satisfied with our stay and I've already rated Kazueya 5 stars on Expedia!"

"A truly unique experience. Our gracious hostess, Ms. Fujita, welcomed us with freshly prepared matcha and mochi. The machiya is spacious, spotless, and has very comfortable beds and futons. There are small handwritten cards throughout the house detailing historical information and conservation efforts. The washer/dryer combo works great. The stairs require some agility. The small garden is magical in the rain. It’s a very short walk to either the Omicho market (best seafood!) or the Kanazawa...

"It was a valuable experience to spend time in an old Japanese house. The flat bus is recommended for the way from the station. But I knew it when I checked out. I thought the hotel should inform the guests."

"We loved this property! The room was fantastic and had loads of space (especially storage for bags etc). We were travelling with our baby and there was a cot, a high chair and baby soap! Also having our own washing machine was so helpful (the property also provided washing powder) and there was space to dry the clothes too. "For the price this was more than worth it. Excellent location 2 mins walk to Omicho market and many buses to the train station, the various chaya districts and Castle. Breakfast buffet was varied and plentiful. As typical with most Japanese bathrooms, there is a powerful shower and YES it has the latest TOTO !! (you will know what I mean if you’ve been to japan LOL)"

"The hotel smells really good when you walk in. It’s spotless. I had booked a larger room meant for four and it was beautiful and quiet. They give you very nice amenities and the public bath is a great plus. I woke early and it was empty both mornings. The staff is helpful. The pajamas are nice. I would stay here again and rent the big room. If you are vegetarian there is no breakfast option. "
