"Rug was grubby looking, this was the only place where we did not want to walk around barefoot and used slippers in the room. Really didn't like the fabric toilet seat cover. Onsen was small. Checkout at 9 am too early!"

"This is a beautiful old facility. Taxi or bus from train station. An uphill walk from bus station or about $50 taxi. We visitors in January. Icy steps! The staff was great to carry luggage up to room! Chucky was so nice and helpful. Ask to see his photos from his hometown!"

"the stay came with breakfast and dinner every day. and really good breakfast and dinner too. breakfast was paired with tea service on the way to the dining area. dinner was paired with free chocolate and sparkling wine. the hot springs were amazing. private onsen available too. friendly staff. surprisingly easy to get to."

"The whole staffs welcome the guests and offer them professional and attentive services. The owner of the hotel and brother are not sitting back and supervising their staffs, but are contributing their parts to take care of the guests directly. They drive the guests to/from the station from/to the hotel; they do’t use a bus boy."

"Incredible experience at Suzukiya Ryokan! Staff is incredible! They speak some English and you can communicate perfectly fine with all of them. They are so incredibly kind and welcoming! The room was very traditional with straw mats, room dividers, very comfortable beds on the floor. Hot spring baths indoors as well as outdoors were absolutely fantastic! "Hotspring was very nice. I didnt stay due to the skiing aspect. But they are well equipped for it. Great quality of food for their breakfast and supper buffets. The staff were very kind even though i dont speak a lot of japanese. "

"The spa is quite far out but has accessable buses from Sendai Station. The onzen was wonderful and clean. Staff was very friendly and spoke english. Only word of caution is unless you eat at the hotel, dinner options are limited and youd have to walk into town. Still a wondeful experience and would definitely stay again if we are in the Miyagi area. "

"A comfortable, clean business hotel with the added advantage of an onsen on the ground floor. Conveniently located in the traditional area of Yamagata on a bus route from the station. Breakfast in the top floor restaurant was buffet style."
