We did a thorough comparison on the hotel rates in the immediate area. In order to stay at a conventional hotel, you would pay at least double. If you are a budget traveler, this one might be just fine for you. There is no front desk to check in, and all communications with the hosts was through the internet. We found the hosts were slow to reply when contacted through the Hotels.com portal - in fact they replied after 48 hrs. In their eventual reply, they suggested contacting them by their local telephone, "Line" or "kakao talk". Our communication via Line was prompt and effective.
They agreed that someone would meet us at the hotel for our late night check in. At the last moment, however, they sent complicated self check in instructions and that we would be staying at their annex down the block. We were initially shocked at the run-down look of the annex which at first appeared (in our eyes) to be an abandoned building from the entrance all the way to our assigned unit. The elevator was operable, and the stairs were accessible but some stair areas were cluttered with recycling/garbage bins, suitcases. The unit itself was spacious and had the elements seen in the Hotels.com feature photos ie TV on fridge, utilitarian furniture, curtain style, bathroom fixtures, but in person the room did not give the same positive impression. The bathroom was wet and had a mildewy small. A dehumidifier was available for use in the room and it helped.
