"We enjoyed our stay. Not sure it is a 5 star hotel but definitely 4! The room had high ceilings and a tall window looking on to a courtyard. The bed was comfortable. Everything to Ortigia was within walking distance. The roof top patio was a lovely addition and we enjoyed reading and soaking up some sun .. in November which was lovely. The staff were friendly at reception and the breakfast was decent.. particularly enjoyed the coffee. The one thing that we found rather cheap for a 5 star hotel is the minibar offers water complimentary on the first day but after that there is a charge. When a reputable guidebook strongly says don’t drink the water particularly in Siracusa, due to old pipes… ( there definitely was hard water at this hotel with some iron) then it would have been nice to have had water each day.. included!! "

"Siracusa has been the highlight of our 10 days in Sicily so far and Algilà Ortigia was a great place to visit. Staff was friendly and several went out of their way to be helpful. We are good walkers and could walk to all parts of Ortigia, the island you want to stay on, and be there within 15 minutes. We had a junior suite that was large with several separate areas. Full service breakfast was good, not great. Bed was very big but not the most comfortable Despite these minor things, all four of us loved the hotel and location "

"Dreaming place, with ocean views, excellent staff, beautiful and clean. Very good breakfast. Don’t go to ortigia with car because there are no parking but if that’s the case, the staff will help you to find private parking. Definitely will come back :) "

"We enjoyed a lovely suite, constructed in an old palace. It was spacious, quiet and clean! Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice! It was one block from the sea and everything was close by. We would highly recommend this hotel!"

"The staff was very friendly and helpful in providing sites to see and places to eat. Since there’s limited driving in the area they try as much as possible to arrange parking and transportation. The room and hotel is very unique with art and architecture. They provided a great bottle of red wine for being a VIP on Expedia. They also provided free cocktails for us once during our stay and free drinks from the room refrigerator. Breakfast was delicious. The only con was that the shower was small but I guess that is typical with a historic building. The terraces overlooking the water were fantastic. Ortigia is one of best cities to see in Sicily and Henry’sHotel is the place to stay."

"We loved our 2-night stay at the Grand Hotel Villa Politi in Syracuse! The property is very historic, having been established in 1862, and it is literally built adjacent to one of the archeological sites that Syracuse is known for. The staff was so welcoming and helpful, the Winston Churchill Bar was charming (and they have a daily happy hour with complimentary appetizers), and the breakfast buffet offered a nice variety of choices. There's a large, very well-maintained outdoor pool and deck area, which was a highlight of my visit. The room was very comfortable and well appointed in terms of linens, a refrigerator/mini bar, plenty of electrical outlets, and a functional window. I wish there had been conditioner in the shower, along with shampoo and body wash, but other than that, our stay was excellent."
