Summary:
Grandma's House is located in the outport community of Fairbanks, about a 20-minute drive from Twillingate. The home was built back in 1869 and has been in the same family for generations. It is a cherished place, filled with joyful memories. It sits on the edge of North Atlantic, along iceberg alley, offering a stunning view of the sea and a glimpse into life in an outport community.
The Space:
As with many homes in NL, you enter through the rear door into the mud room and laundry area. From there, you'll enter the large eat-in kitchen from which you'll take in the gorgeous view of the ocean. As is typical in NL, the entertaining tends to happen in the kitchen and this home has a long history of kitchen parties. The cozy living area is just off the kitchen, and also offers the stunning view. Out front, there is a screened-in porch where you can enjoy a meal or simply relax. Upstairs you'll find 3 bedrooms, two of the rooms have double beds and the third room has a single bed. The full bathroom is also located on the 2nd floor. With this house being built in 1869, the stairs are original to the house. We do ask that guests please be careful when using them, they are narrow, have narrow foot paths and are steep.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the entire home.
