"Stayed here in 2023 and excellent once again. Lovely room 1 Pen-y-gent the walk in shower i wish i could take home. Plenty of tea coffee in room and toiletries. Had steak and ale pie with veg and chips. Big chunks of tender meat in luscious gravy, chips were home made and not the usual frozen ones! Meal was excellent. "the room was not warm enough and although mentioned to the staff, it was some time before the heating was sufficient. The tea maker was in a cupboard on the floor. This is the first time I have encountered this in a hotel, This was not easy to make the first cup of tea in the morning. Having mentioned these two points, the staff we met were very helpful and pleasant. "Lovely stay, staff are so welcoming and can not do enough for you. It has a very 'horsey' theme throughout which is cute. We had a meal on the first evening and the homemade pie was gorgeous. Breakfast was average, and nothing much for vegetarians. Lovely location. We would definitely stay again. "

"My wife, daughter and I stayed at The Wheatsheaf combining a work trip with some family time. We felt very well looked after at The Wheatsheaf; the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was a really good size for the three for us and we were all very comfortable. It is also a fantastic location for exploring the Yorkshire Dales and Lakes, with the beautiful Ingleton waterfall trail right on the doorstep. Thank you to the team! We hope we get to come back!"

"The radiator in the room didn't work. I went to see the staff, and the boiler wasn't switched on, which is very strange for January !!. The boiler was on but the radiator didn't work on either day of my visit. 2 heaters were provided, but the person in charge wasn't aware of the issue with the boiler/radiator, which was poor in my view."

"Really enjoyed our stay. Only negative was that the dinner menu was the same each night. The staff were very friendly and polite. A very dog friendly hotel too - you had the option to have meals in a nice room with your dog - this isn’t the case in some dog friendly hotels. Would stay again."

"Amazing location. Clean and comfy room. Fridge on landing where we could keep fresh dog food and milk, they can be noisy in the room so great idea. Needs to update to a decent coffee machine if the sign outside says ‘coffee house’. Only filter served and not very nice. Some really lovely, friendly staff. Would definitely come back. 9/10"

"This is the second time we've stayed at the Mason Freehouse, it was lovely the first time we stayed, which made us keen to return. Although it is now under new management, it's clear that the lovely, friendly, warm welcoming atmosphere is something the staff are keen to retain.
