Bush Retreat on the Hawkesbury River
The photos do not do this place justice. There is so much room for very large groups of people. The locals are friendly and welcoming. Great views of the river, very quiet area and quite natural surroundings. This is a great place, I will be back" - Recent Review.
Scenic bush retreat on 9 acres overlooking the Hawkesbury river.
This property is great for big groups of up to 22 people with 3 full size bedrooms, a 14 bed dormitory and a separate studio about 40 metres from the main house.
The house was built for entertaining with a commercial kitchen great for dinner parties, a 1000L commercial drinks fridge, 3 large outdoor decked areas and a double BBQ.
There is Netflix and Stan on a 65" TV and strong WiFi across the whole property.
This property offers stunning water views over the Hawkesbury River and mountain ranges.
This property is fully fenced and suitable for small dogs. Larger dogs are able to jump over the 0.7m high fences and get out onto the road or into the bush.

A scenic location, and a house with ample space for large groups
An open-plan, sun-lit house, with ample space for large groups. Our teens and 18+ kids enjoyed to fooz ball and snooker table.
We brought our own food and geoceries cause there aren't any stores nearby.
Having free access to Netflix and other apps on the TV was great, and loved the Anchor restaurant right at the door of the property.
Thank you, Sim, for being so responsive before and during our trip and helping us out when we got stuck with a few things.
All in all, it was a really nice place to stay!
The property was well suited to our group - kitchen was well stocked, plenty of activities to keep us occupied. A few aspects were a bit dated but it didn't bother us at all - we had a great weekend. Highly recommend for groups
Stayed with a group of friends for a weekend catch-up.
We had a great time at this property!
The space is great for large groups, especially with the open floor-plan in the main living space, allowing us all to be together. Plenty of areas for seating, and a variety of outdoor areas to relax in. I noticed other reviews commented on the oven - we had no issue once someone got the hang of it! Absolutely stunning backdrop, and the local coffee shop was right down the driveway - very friendly staff.
It can be difficult to find a place to stay for large groups that also have seating and crockery for everyone together, but this place definitely hit the mark!
Our recent stay at this beautiful property was nothing short of spectacular. The stunning scenery and picturesque views right on the water set the perfect backdrop for our getaway. The locals were incredibly friendly and welcoming, adding a wonderful touch to our overall experience. One of the highlights was the property's prime location, just a very short walk to the wharf, making it ideal for fishing enthusiasts in our group. The accommodation was perfectly suited for a large group, with plenty of space to sleep everyone comfortably. The huge kitchen was a dream for those of us who love to cook, allowing us to prepare meals with ease. The outdoor entertaining area was simply amazing, offering ample space for relaxation and socializing. Whether we were enjoying a morning coffee or a sunset BBQ, it quickly became our favorite spot to gather.Overall, this property provided everything we needed for an unforgettable stay, and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a perfect retreat by the water.

Great space for large group location is superb… some issues with property though, toilet and oven
Loved Spencer, quiet, idyllic and remote fishing spot, property was ok…. Cleanliness needs to be improved, oven and outside toilet not working, lock on main bathroom door is also not working…. Blinds and carpet in downstairs domitory needs washing, it was quiet stuffy and dusty for guests, blankets are a bit thin as well….kitchen areas particularly in drawers and cupboards needed to cleaned out, grease, grime and dust in a lot of places … would be great to get some curtains in studio bedroom… overall we had a great time, we’d love to come back to Spencer… close enough to Sydney but remote and tucked away at the same time….

Not up to standard for the price
While we had a great time exploring and relaxing in Spencer, we encountered several issues with the property that were really not up to standard for the price - we have stayed in many holiday rentals over the same peak season for much less cost per person in much better condition and with better facilities. I won’t list all the issues here as we have taken this up with management (they have apologized and assured us they would be looked into however have said the condition is to be expected for a ‘bush retreat’), however some were a danger to our health and safety on top of shabby and broken furniture. If left in its current state I wouldn’t recommend this property for families with children seeking a comfortable stay.
4 families got together for our annual Christmas in July and had a great time. The house was very large and in a great location. The description of "Commercial Kitchen" isn't very accurate. The toaster didn't work and we couldn't get the oven to work (not great when you're cooking a full Christmas lunch for 15 people). The kitchen and bathrooms were very clean, however there was a lot of dust and cobwebs everywhere else and the bed sheets threadbare. All in all we had a great time but feel the cost is excessive for the condition of the house
Plenty of room for large groups of friends and family. Good amenities and great location. The host was very nice and responsive to any questions. Would definitely recommend and would not hesitate to go back.
Great weekend away with a group of uni friends. The house is in a lovely location for a relaxing weekend with large open living areas and decks with river views. I'd recommend the Thai place just down the road! The kitchen had more than enough cutlery, plates, utensils, pots/pans etc for our large group and the extra fridge was awesome.
One of the fridges wasn't working but Sim let us know beforehand and was great at communicating about the property. One of the bunks was also unstable/broken downstairs but still useable. Would definitely come back!
I stayed at the property with a group of friends and we had such an amazing weekend! The bbq was fantastic, and the deck areas were great to eat outside. Bathrooms were very nice and water was nice and hot. The pool table was awesome and was a wonderful addition to the house. The entire property was very clean and the beds were really comfortable. The house is also very private which makes a great getaway spot. The check in process was very easy and the host is very helpful and quick to respond to any questions. The only issue was the indoor dining table was a little wobbly and the downstairs bunks were a tad shaky but all usable. The drinks fridge was awesome but the kitchen fridge didn’t seem to be working. Nonetheless we had an amazing weekend and I genuinely couldn’t recommend this property more!!!
Amazing Secluded and Quiet Spot Ideal for Large Groups
The property was exactly what we were after. Everything was in good clean working order. The location was perfect for our large group. The owner was more than helpful in every way. Would highly recommend for a similar requirement.
