"My favorite thing about this property was the remoteness. It is at the end of the street with a lot of new builds. We were here in the off season, so it was very quiet. The views from the room look right out into the forest. One wall is a giant sliding window/door so you feel like you are part of nature. The apartment is brand new, well equipped, and very comfortable. It sits right along the ski trails, so I hope to go back in winter. "

Špania Dolina is a picturesque historic village in central Slovakia, around 10 km from Banská Bystrica. Once famous for mining, the village is embracing low level tourism and is an excellent base for hiking and mountain biking, with the Veľká Fatra and Nízke Tatry national parks in close proximity. The most notable attraction is the fortified church, which was built in Gothic and Renaissance styles, with a little bit of Baroque thrown in for good measure.
