"We stayed at Sanjiro for one night on the last day of 3-day weekend during foliage season. Staff was very very very thoughful. The view from the room was magnificent. Enjoyed a wide variety of japanese mushrooms. "

"This was a great escape from the city, they have an outdoor pool which isn't common in the area. "

We arrived from Sendai and took a day trip towards Yamagata and on both occasions a shuttle bus was waiting to take us to the hotel without advanced booking. The staff at reception spoke some English and with our limited Japanese we were checked in quite quickly. "Great traditional Japanese Ryokan. They were comfortable with foreigners and did thier best to make us feel welcome. The Onsen was a wonderful and the dinner and breakfast provided were amazing. Probably some of the best Miso I have had. If you are not familiar with Onsen, I recommend watching a YouTube video or two to get an idea of what needs to be done. It is about a 15 minute Taxi ride to the Zao Fox Village, which is worth visiting as well."

"The property is spacious, well-maintained, and clean. All the necessary items are provided in the kitchen. If cooking smelly foods like grilled fish, garlic dishes, and curry were allowed, that would been great."

"The hotel is located in a bit of an awkward corner spot for those that are carrying heavy luggage as there is no direct crossing on road to get there. There is an overhead bridge with steps at the intersection, so if you are carrying heavy luggage you need to walk further down to the next set of lights to cross the road. "

"A beautiful new venue with the added value of being convenient to the train station. The front desk team are remarkable. Their level of service are comparable to any hotel in the world. My only note not positive was being unable to have breakfast in a dining room that was empty."

"We loved Sendai Kokusai Hotel! The room was compact, but had everything we needed. The bathroom was nice and clean. The shower and bath were lovely with great water pressure. The beds were clean and comfortable. The room was a bit warm for our liking, but otherwise it was perfect!"
