The photos of the hotel make it look great. I'm sure 10 years ago it was up to the standard of 4 stars, but not now. There was debris in the bedroom when I checked in. There's a place for kettle and coffee / tea making, but only a kettle there, no coffee or tea or cups. Underneath that there is a vented cupboard where a fridge would be... but no fridge, just an empty cabinet. In the bathroom, black mould around the sealant in the wash basin and shower.
Staff at reception speak almost no English, but to be fair, it is China and therefore it's guests who should learn a little Chinese. Breakfast was kind of ok, but western items like eggs and bacon and sausages were all cold even at 7am when the restaurant opens, so who knows how much earlier they made these items and store them in the ashets. On checkout, asked reception staff to get me a taxi to go to the train station. They said "No Taxi, only hotel car" and the price 120 RMB. That's 3 times more expensive than a taxi. My colleague left early in the morning and he got same answer, only to find it was an actual taxi. The hotel car I got ended up making me late for my train to HK. The driver stopped at a garage to get a tire changed. Then dropped me at a shopping mall instead of the train station.
The hotel is conveniently located where I needed to be. There was nothing terrible about the place, just could have been nicer. 1 of the 2 elevators was broken the whole week.
