Within walking distance of Line 2 subway, the hotel is decent with adequate facilities of what a business hotel should be. The gym is contracted out as a commercial gym so it's busier than an exclusive one. There isn't much to see around the hotel so you will have to know where to go on your own or that doesn't bother you at all (ie business trips). Rooms are bigger than average but the mini bar is empty (perhaps the convenience store is too proximate?).
Check in at 8PM, out 9AM, very short stay. Free Wifi helped me a lot to finish my work. Starbucks is just next door, 10min walk to West Nanjin Road station. Clean Bathrooom and toilet.
The map showing on Hotels.com is not correct, be careful. Haward Johnson Business Club is on the corner of Shimen 1st Rd and Weihai Rd intersection. Four Seasons is at the opposite corner.
Hotel going through a bit of updating, so not all facilities available. Got to be realistic, it has to happen sometime, we just picked the wrong period. Close enough to most things, very pleasant staff. Shanghai a "must see" destination.

Economical choice in the heart of the city
Hotel undergoing a fair bit of renovation and there is no air-conditioning in the room (which can get a tad stuffy despite the 15-18C outside), Location is however, good, close to a subway station and is practically in the heart of the city.
Location was not as shown on hotels.com, hotel amenities were closed for construction, elevator took me to 15th floor and wouldn't open before even punched a floor button, shower water did not get hot enough, maid cleaned my room every day even though DND was on... the list goes on. Just not a great experience. Will find a different hotel next time!
Roomy and clean rooms. Great location near many restaurants on Dagu Lu. Cleaning staff are excellent. Concierge staff are excellent. Restaurant staff are below average; they were more interested in talking to each other than serving the customers.
Received a last minute offer from Expedia for under $ 100.00 a night. On top of that, they upgraded me to a 1 bedroom suite. Excellent fitness facilities and close to the Nanking West subway stop. The breakfast and dinner buffets are expensive, but there is a special for the weekend for the dinner buffet at 128 RMB. There is a variety store at the end of the block where you can get sandwiches and other hot foods, so the buffet is not the only meal option.
Overall it is a very nice modern hotel. Good quality free WiFi. In theory it is in a very convenient area, within an easy walk to the West Nanjing metro station. However there is a massive construction project in between them, so be prepared to walk an alternate (longer) route. As I believe earlier reviews may have stated, I found that the air conditioning could not be activated- so the room was a little hot. opening a small window helped a little. With these comments in mind- I would still recommend this property if you can get a good rate and want to stay in this area. My stay was actually a positive experience.

Good Business hotel but too much Construction now.
The hotel is located about 15 minutes walk from the Nanjing Road West metro station (about 1 hour 15 mins from the airport by metro). The metro station is right at a major shopping district with lots of restaurants and shops.
The alleyway to the hotel from the metro station is now the greatest and some may not feel too safe to walk to the hotel from the metro station. Taking the cab is not a great option too as it is so close.
The hotel is right across the street from a Four Seasons Hotel, has a Starbucks on the ground floor and a great cafe/bakery called Rembeld on the other side of the hotel which is better than Starbucks.
The room was large and comfortable. My room faced the road and the construction was throughout the night but really started by 6am. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was large. Overall, very clean and much like any other hotels in other countries.
I stayed on a "smoke-free" floor but as usual, the smell of smoke is quite evident on the whole floor and in the room through the ventilations. This is quite common in any hotel in China no matter how highend they are.
Water was not hot enough but it was not cold. The amenities in the room was very good. The wi-fi throughout the hotel was nice. As usual, the internet access is quite slow in China because of the filters the traffic goes through.
Make sure you know where the hotel is as there is no sign of Hojo until you are about 100 feet from it. Staff spoke good English.
The aircon int he room was not working on cool as the system had been changed over to heating. The problem is that the date for changeover from heating to cooling is done according to the calendar and not the real weather situation outside. Outside temps were 22 deg C to 24 deg C which is unseasonal for early November making the room very uncomfortable. Housekeeping brought a fan which didn't help.
The room decoration was very nice, The view out the back was into the garden and lake of Top of City apartment complex and from 30th floor could see all across the city to the south. ..
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! No working AC. room is 25 degrees celcius, contruction going on all day starting at 8am!

Near to shopping, food and wellness
The hotel has definitely seen better days. The A/C was spewing out dry air that warmed the room to 29 Celsius when it's 22 out, that made it really uncomfortable. And yes, I did adjust the temperature to 22 but it refuses to go down. Turns out that the temperature is centrally-regulated; so the control panel in your room is just for show and there's no way you can adjust the temperature in your room. The marble tile on the floor was cracked and has not been replaced for quite some time I reckon. Aside from this, it's pretty bearable but I will definitely choose other hotels over it for my next visit as I don't fancy a sauna as my hotel room and my bed sheets soaking wet with my sweat.
The hotel management has turned off the A/C to save costs as of Oct 15th should be fine the rest of the fall/winter however when I was there it was very warm. It was hard to sleep in the heat but the manager did all he could to satisfy the problems by providing a fan.
