The breakfast and dinner was served by older ladies that did not necessarily speak English but definitely kept trying to make it an amazing experience each time. The variety of the served food was just overwhelming. So delicious and always something freshly cooked right at your table. "Onsen is the highlight, we booked for the western room but somehow we got the ryokan type which is a bit smaller and the private bathroom is tiny. My recommendation for breakfast is Japanese as the Western one, you will get just a fried egg, a ham and two breads. (Free coffee for Western, 400 yen for Japanese) So far, the hotel is nice, the owner family is so kind, helpful, and lovely, we had a good time there 😊 "

"Hotel Hanabun was a great ryokan experience! It is nestled in the mountains offering a peaceful getaway from touristy/crowded areas. It had the best onsen water, even the locals went there to bathe! The hosts and staff are all friendly and accommodating to your needs. Google translate was necessary to communicate, but everyone is very patient. The food was incredibly delicious, and they use locally sourced, fresh ingredients. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy ryokan. "

"The staff is welcoming and kind, this is a family run business for 6 generations! The half board breakfast and dinner are exceptional, kaiseki style and every dish is presented beautifully. The location is right on the ometesando, lots of foot traffic but quiet. Futons are comfortable. We loved our stay and want to go back!"

"This place was a very cute, homely, with a family owned ryokan vibe. We had a nice spacious room, the biggest we had in our whole trip to Japan, with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The futons were so comfortable compared to other futons we slept on at other ‘trendy’ ryokans. The onsen was very nice and relaxing, they offered both private and public onsen and amenities.
