A most typical cave winery of the 18th century, renovated to a residential house.
House is composed by two large completely underground caves (Canava domed halls). Caves are interconnected by a low-ceiling corridor and have spacious entrances from the house yard.
Spacious open kitchen in the deep of the larger domed cave (living room with two robust wine barrels on its side). Cooking equipment includes kitchen with four electrical burners, electrical stove and all kinds of cooking utensils.
Two indoor simple bathrooms, one for each hall include WC and shower. The very low entrance to the one bathroom and some parts of the house ceilings which are low as 2 meters. gives an idea of the short stature of the people living in the house in previous centuries.
Decoration and style of the house is pure rustic, nearly authentic from the times that the winery was operating. Wine making equipment of former times still stands in the larger hall, like wine barrels and grape pressing machines. All furniture is authentic old and has been used for many decades.
The private yard of the house is surrounded by a thick wall, safeguarding its privacy. Wall is lower on the direction of the sea for allowing open view to the blue Aegean and the wine fields of Oia. Entrance is from the pedestrian road of the village’s labyrinth.
House of the Angels is the ground floor of the “Villa of the seven Angels”. It is completely independent with own street entrance and private yard with sea view for for exclusive use.
As Finikia is a pedestrian village, one has to walk 200 meters from the closest car access (public parking and bus stop). Fortunately the walkway has a soft slope and very few stairs for the standards of the island.
