"This eco-friendly hotel is located on Lagoon Petenchel and surrounded by beautiful rain forest. It’s about one hour away from Tikal Mayan ruins and about 20 minutes away from Flores island. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We recommend staying at the Hotel Villa Maya. "

"Getting greeted off the boat with a cold glass of Jamaica (Habiscus) was the first experience. Without even setting foot on this beautiful property. We showed up before our check-in to leave our extra luggage and they attend us regardless. We took off to visit Tikal. In the mean time they took our luggage and placed it in the room for us. Even turned on the AC for us. The restaurant has great food. A mixture of some local dishes and other more western favorites. Peten is a little off the beaten path for me when I visit Guate. But I will be coming here anytime I’m in the area. "

However, we encountered some challenges with early check-in. Since we traveled for a medical procedure, having early access to the room for the patient to rest would have been ideal. While we understand policies can vary, greater flexibility in this area would significantly enhance the experience for guests in similar circumstances. Despite this, our stay was pleasant, and we would gladly return."

"I loved the pool area and the location was perfect on the small island. Had a little difficulty finding the entrance. Parking was safe, they have a parking lot in the back that is opened and closed by staff, must request to have it opened. Staff came by every morning to tidy up the room, which was super nice to come back to. The entrance and doors get locked at a certain time, my brothers almost got locked out for the night. Would definitely go back, staff was incredibly friendly."
