Since 2017 we have owned our holiday home which is located on a one acre / 4,000 m2 plot of land with a heated pool, well maintained garden with olive trees and fruit trees, a petanque court and plenty of space for play and leisure.
The Gite is a standalone property ideally suited for 4 to 6 people - including families with children and dogs. The house is attractively furnished and decorated throughout. It consists of a ground floor and first floor. The ground floor has a spacious living room (with sofa bed) and open kitchen, as well as a bathroom. The dining table hosts 6 people. The first floor has two spacious double bedrooms (one of which can be set up with 3 beds), the second bathroom and plenty of storage space. The house has airconditioning in the bedrooms, WiFi, washing machine and dishwasher, among other things.
You will have not have access to the owner's quarters. They will not be there when you are there. One dog is allowed - but we would appreciate it if you keep them on the ground floor and off the furniture.
Living room/Dining Room
The bright and spacious living room leads out through patio doors to the veranda and terrace. It has 2 sofas (one being a sofa bed) and comfortable chairs for 6 people, as well as a larger round dining table that can host 6. There is one high chair available.
The patio has a shaded area with a table that can host 6 for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a BBQ area with gas burning barbecue (gas is supplied).
Kitchen
There is a medium-sized fully-equiped open kitchen which has a fridge / freezer, gas hob and electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine as well as all key kitchen machines and utensils. The kitchen has plastic plates and cups for children.
Bedrooms
The villa has two beautiful double bedrooms on the first floor and a third (double) sofa bed in the living room. Each bedroom is well furnished including built in wardrobes for hanging and storage purposes. The two double bedrooms can be set up with 2 single beds as well.
Bathrooms
The first bathroom on the ground floor has toilet, sink and a shower.
The large, second bathroom can be found on the first floor and has toilet, sink and bath / shower as well as ample storage space in the cupboard.
The garden
The heated pool is attractively positioned amongst the olive trees and chene verts. There is ample room to relax next to the pool, including a shaded patio.
At the back of the garden there is a pétanque area. The garden also has ample space for games. There is a football goal, a trampoline and a swing.
The garden contains olive trees, fruits trees, many Provençal plants like lavender and rosemary, as well as other herbs. In order to keep the garden tidy, a gardener will come once every week including to mow the lawn. The pool is be cleaned and monitored once a week.
Parking
Parking is available for multiple cars within the grounds.
Local area and activities
The villa is located in Saint Siffret, which is a 12th century village which has two castles and a 12th century church. Saint Siffret has restaurants, local vineyards and a small epicery / bakery, which is run by a local family and offers fresh fruit and vegetables, newspapers and a variety of household items. This shop is only minutes away from the villa.
The villa is located 5 kilometers from Uzes, one of the prettiest French Provencale market towns - which has ample bars & restaurants, shops and a wonderful market on Wednesday and Saturday.
The Commercial Centre outside of Uzes has a large Carrefour supermarket and a wide range of other stores. It is an 8 min drive from the house.
One of the major highlights of the area is the impressive Pont du Gard built by the Romans in the first century. This aquaduct carried water from the spring in the Vallee de l’Eure in Uzes to Nimes. The site is wonderful to visit and hosts a good museum and multiple shops and restaurants. There are often performances and events at night time.
The Gardon river area is perfect for swimming and canoeing at Collias (20 mins drive away). They river offers an unforgettable experience not only with the canoeing but also from the scenic drive around the area.
The wider area offers ample opportunity for sports including hiking, cycling, trail running, tree climbing at the Air de Nature in Vallabrix, hot air balloons, parapente at Mont Bouquet.
Further afield, there are multiple cities and sights that are all worth a day trip in their own right. Nimes is well known for it Roman arena. Avignon for its papal palace. Orange for its Roman amphitheatre. Arles for its Roman past as well as the paintings of Vincent Van Gogh. The Camargue is famous for its salt pans, the flamingoes and its horses.
