"This was an absolutely fantastic place to stay. What a gem! Sue Ellen could not have been more welcoming - even making a dinner reservation for us and updating the restaurant because we were running late. Rimu Lodge is delightful. The rooms are large, contemporary yet cosy, beautifully decorated and with lots of little touches such as a turn down service, exquisite bathroom products and fine quality chocolate treats to welcome you. The super king bed was extremely comfortable and my husband and I slept like tops! Our room opened out onto a gorgeous veranda where, weather permitting, you can stargaze at night and relax during the day. We arrived too late for the welcome happy hour drinks to meet our host and other guests, but this was another lovely touch. Breakfast was divine. High quality ingredients, fresh fruits and pastries plus beautifully cooked hot options. Both hubby and I had the French toast which was accompanied by a divine fruit compote. Totally delicious. Sue Ellen was really helpful in providing tips on what to see and do in the area and relating to our onward journey. Thank you Sue Ellen for being so kind and attentive. We really felt that it was important to you that we enjoyed our stay and we appreciate the effort you made on our behalves. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rimu Lodge. You won't be disappointed."

Friendly hosts to make you feel at home.The kitchen and bathroom /laundry mostly clean just needing attention to detail like top of the fridge, rangehood and cobwebs. These are minor things on the whole it was pretty clean.Would not hesitate to come back to stay again.Recommended. "

"The property was awesome, it had everything you could need. Our cabin was immaculate, clean perfect comfy bed. Sunny spot. 10 min walk to town. Staff brilliant. Facilities clean, roomy, it's great singles, couples, families and I imagine group. It's a winner"

"The Hokitika Fire Station is a lovely place to stay. Very comfortable, spacious, clean, complete with all the amenities we needed and wanted. We'd happily stay there again and regret only staying for one night. It is in a good location with parking just behind the building. The beach is a short walk away as is the main street with various dining, drinking and shopping options. We think it is great that a historical building has been preserved in such a way with a strong tie to it's history and the local community."
