The first was all rooms were on the second floor only accessible by a steep stair case. The second concern was in our bathroom shower. The faucet was in very poor repair. "Old established pub on the outskirts of Barnard Castle, within a 15 min walk of it's shopping area. Decorated to a good standard, room was bigger than average, with all the usual facilities in working order. However the bed was very soft & its mattress in need of replacement. Food the usual pub menu & of a reasonable standard. A good cooked breakfast was within the room tariff, making it a good value stay."

"Our room was beautiful. It had a king size bed and the en-suite bathroom was a good size. The only downside was that the toilet flush handle was broken but still worked. It could have done with better lighting in the bathroom as you couldn’t see in the mirror very well. The room was immaculately clean and had a sofa and tv with easy to connect to WiFi. Personally I struggled with comfort of the bed as I found it too soft but it was dressed with clean sheets and had extra pillows in the wardrobe....
