Eleven days at Villa Sunset in May
Arriving at Villa Sunset having driven from Chania in daylight it wasn't difficult to find due to the excellent directions given by Ibrahim. However, if you arriving in darkness you might want to consider being driven to the villa, a service some car hire companies will provide; as some recognition points would be difficult to see in the dark. You will need a car! The Villa itself was extremely clean, well maintained and spacious, the pool clean and sufficiently large for a property of this size. There is plenty of outside pace both shaded and for sunbathing, the hammocks on the roof were comfortable and had the weather been more seasonal (warmer and less windy) we would have used this area much more. The views are lovely and the property secluded and quiet. There are few local amenities making transport essential, there is a local taverna across the valley which is walkable, I wouldn't want walk back up the hill after an evening out! However, Andreas Taverna is currently only open Friday, Saturday evenings and Sunday 13:00 to 23:00, albeit well worth a visit for some local cuisine. There is a Lidl not too far away you will pass a small 'supermarket' and a petrol station (reasonably priced) on route. There are plenty of tavernas and shops near the beach. Ibrahim, Karima and young Omar we exceptional hosts and couldn't have been more attentive to our needs. We had a lovely time. I can also recommend 'Best Cars' of Rethymno.
