Excellent property
Huge thank you for being such an excellent host. Property was great, pool lovely and The Olive (local taverna run by Adonis) was our go to almost every night. We will be back!

Second stay, but not the last
Pretty well equipped villa with a nice pool in a cozy town not far from the sea. The owners are very friendly and concerned about their tenants. They cook typical Cretan dishes, but you should try the village tavernas. In addition, Prines is ideally located to explore central and western Crete.

Immaculately presented villa in a restful location
We just wanted to say thank you for a great holiday at your villa. You’d thought of everything and we really appreciated your effort and the gifts. The villa was perfect for us. We had everything we needed, the house was immaculate and well equipped, the wifi worked great, AC in every room, the pool was refreshing and fun. We will certainly return!

Perfect house
The house is large, well appointed, with beautiful flowers and a pool. It is located in a charming village above Rethymno. It would be best to have a car to stay there. The best part is the lovely Alexandra. She is so kind and helpful, plus she gave us some delicious food treats. I would stay for a month or a year if i could!

A wonderful villa in a beautiful place
We had a great holiday, enjoying Crete and relaxing in the lovely Villa Phaedra. Alexandra greeted us with warm pastries and a carafe of Raki, both delicious and very welcome. When she came to check all was well later in the week she arrived with a tasty lemon cake and home made cordial, which everyone loved. The Villa has a balcony with great views, perfect for breakfast or an evening meal and the pool was great. What really made the holday special though was the warm welcome and friendliness of Alexandra - we hope to see you again very soon!

This lovely villa is exactly as shown in the photographs and Alexandra was the perfect hostess.
Alexandra's genuine concern that our party of 4 had a good holiday extended to having a delicious lunch ready for us on arrival and at the end of a long journey we were all very grateful. The bottle of Raki left for us by Alexandra was also very welcome. The villa is beautifully appointed and lacks for nothing, there were only 4 of us but the villa could easily house more. The villa is situated in a quiet position on the edge of a village but within easy reach of Rethymno and perfectly placed to tour a large part of the island. I can confidently recommend the villa and am most grateful for Alexandra's kindness during our stay and would love to return.

Great House
we - a family of four - spent a great week in Villa Phaedra. It is a very nice and cosy house. Well equipped with microwave oven and washing mashine. Our two girls loved the pool and the little rubber boat which were there. Rethimno with nice cafes, bars, and restaruants is only a 10 minute drive away like the really nice beaches east of Rethimno. Alexandra and George stopped by for helping and a little chit chat. One day we got a greek lemon cake as a surprise! Thank you for making our vacation in Prines really special!

Very nice and clean villa.
We truly enjoyed our stay at the beautiful Villa Phaedra. After an exhausting trip, first per flight and then by car, we were welcomed by the generous and hospitable Alexandra in the late evening. She had prepared a tasty, traditional meal for us, which we were very happy about. The house was very clean and well equipped, with modern sanitary installations and a refreshing pool. We had a really relaxing time there, though if we wanted some action, everything we wanted to visit wasn't too far off (as if driving through the beautiful countryside of Crete would be a bad thing!). Overall, we wouldn't like to miss even a second of our vacation there and can't recommend Villa Phaedra enough. Thanks for everything. :)

Wonderful villa
We stayed at the Villa Phaedra for three weeks and it was wonderful. The villa itself is lovely, well-equipped and maintained, and clean, with a lovely garden and pool, which is also regularly cleaned. The villa is beautiful and romantic, perfect for us on our honeymoon, but would also suit a family. The owner Alexandra is the perfect host, warm and welcoming, and the village of Prines is within easy strolling distance with an excellent Taverna and Kafenion for meals and drinks. There are plenty of facilities in Prines and in the next village, including large supermarkets. It's a short drive or bus journey into Rethymnon where there are more restaurants, shops, museums and activities. The Villa Phaedra is in the perfect location, on the edge of the village, so very quiet and secluded, but a very short walk into the village. We highly recommend the villa and the area, and we enjoyed it so much that we're planning to return again next year.

Nice House/Village A Few Miles From Tourist Area
Very nice house with kind and generous owner. The village centre is small with two shops, a taverna (we recommend it - The Olive), restaurant and cafe, all just a 6-7 minute stroll away. There's also a filling station and butchers a few hundred metres away. All good for local needs, with fresh bread in both shops. Back down the road towards Rethymno there are loads of other shops and services, local supermarkets and a LIDL at the junction with the main coast road. Rethymno has a vibrant centre with lovely old lanes and Venetian harbour, packed with good shops, tavernas, bars and restaurants all easy to access by car or local bus. There are good beaches a few miles to the west of Rethymo - we recommend the beach and taverna at the west side of Petres. They brought us free and fresh spiny sea urchins along with lunch, eaten straight from the shell (and still moving!). Most things were very good value locally and in Rethymno.

Lovely house in beautiful Cretan village
We have just spent a wonderful 2 weeks in Crete, staying in the lovely house belonging to Alexandra. On arrival we were greeted by Alexandra, a kinder, more welcoming host you couldn't wish to meet. Alexandra had made us a delicious lamb and pasta dish to have on our arrival and during the course of our stay, popped in with more Cretan treats. The house is beautifully decorated and has everything you could possibly need for your stay. There are lovely views of the sea from the balcony, that both upstairs bedrooms open out onto. Sitting in the garden by the pool you could smell the jasmine and throughout the beautiful village of Prines the lovely smell of figs. Prines is a very pretty village with a couple of very good tavernas within walking distance. The next village down the hill also has a couple of very good tavernas, a wonderful bakers and coffee shop, as well as a few other shops and bars. We were amazed at the kindness and generosity of the Cretan people and are already counting down to our return visit to Alexandra's house next summer.

Exactly as described - very nice for whole family
We are a family of five (children aged 16 to 21) and had a great holiday at Villa Phaedra for our 9 day stay. The property was very clean and well equipped with lots of extras already in stock such as tea bags, spices, etc. We used the pool many times a day.The pool, terrace, kitchen and lounge all nicely connected which makes it very sociable. The road is very quiet which we enjoyed as is a dead end with only a small number of properties. Aircon worked well too as was 34 to 36c often. Alexandra was very helpful and provided a nice meal on our arrival and some superb homemade lemonade too. Also when we could not get the DVD player to work, Alexandra had somebody come quickly to resolve. The two tavernas in the village were both very good to eat out at too and the butchers (less than 5 mins walk) very good meat for BBQ and cheese too.Very nice being in a quiet village but only 10 to 15 mins drive from a range of beaches. Would recommend this Villa as very good value for money and lower cost than many similar villas. The Mooney family.

Absolutely wonderful villa and holiday
We booked this villa a year in advance as part of a special celebration-and how special it was !! We were greeted upon arrival by the beautiful Alexandra and given a real cretian welcome as she gave us a lamb and pasta dish and home made Raki. The villa was fantastic, the pictures don't do it enough justice-the pool is clean and the rest of the villa immaculate. All rooms have aircon and Alexandra has thought of everything from beach towels through to electric mosquito repellants in all the bedrooms. We would wake in the morning and watch the birds of prey and other wildlife. You need a car to visit the beaches but otherwise all amenities are within walking distance-a good butcher, a lovely supermarket (ask for home made raki !) and three outstanding tavernas-check trip advisor for the tavernas in Prines-all of them giving a warm welcome and lovely food. Alexandra is on hand nearby should you need anything but doesn't intrude -she left several wonderful home made jams, deliscious cheese pies and lemon cordial to die for ! We will return -words cannot fully explain how nice the whole experience was-Thankyou from us all.

Perfect for our family
First of all I want to tell you that I usually need a lot of time to get used to a new place outside my home. Even if I travel a lot, it is very difficult to me to get well accommodated in a new place. But in this house everything was as we expected so in a matter of hours we felt like home. We were a family of three (4 yrs child). The swimming pool was perfect attraction for me and my daughter, a quiet place, space for parking, plenty of room even for bigger families, good TV and internet connection and good connection to the main roads. Basically you have everything on hand in the villa. If you chose this location you will need a car for visiting everything and site seeing. In the villa you will find a lot of touristic information and if something is unclear feel free to talk to Alexandra, the owner of the villa, she is a very special person and very welcoming one. Crete has a lot to offer for you to fill up your entire summer and if you combine your journey with this location you will be definitely upset when your holiday will be over. Thank you Alexandra for everything, many kisses back from Katerina. We already count the days to our next holiday.

Pretty nice in Prines
What a lovely house and what a kind, lovely owner! Thank you Alexandra for a wonderful holiday and for the warm welcome late at night after a longish drive from Chania on the 'wrong side' of the road. The stuffed peppers and raki were much appreciated. The four of us -- mum, dad and two teenage boys -- had no trouble finding energetic and action-packed things to do: sunbathing by the pool, reading, watching the clouds drift, listening to the call of a hawk high above, enjoying the scent of jasmine...Perfect relaxation, interspersed with dips in the cool and refreshing pool and thoughts of barbeques. Beyond the garden gate, we enjoyed trips to Rethymnon and its market, and a few forays to the beach. Furthest was Plakias, on the south coast. Well, well worth it. Also a spectacular and trembly drive through the Imbros Gorge and on to Frangokastello. So much to see and do... In Prines, Giannikos was the perfect place for dinner (The Olive too, I'm sure, but we didn't have the chance to go). Half the fun was shopping for new and tasty things - the three supermarkets on the way through Atsipopoulo were an alternative to the big Lidl. Would highly recommend the bakery just up from the last supermarket on the left, going down the hill towards the highway turn-off to Rethymnon. Great bread and cakes, and fantastic home-made ice-cream. The villa and location had everything: five out of five! P & M & family, UK

Holiday to Crete
Arrival was aided by accurate directions from the owner as it is a little out of the way. The owner met us on arrival and showed us around and how everything operates. Even made us some lovely food for our arrival. The villa was extremely clean and very well stocked. It was big enough for 4 adults and 2 children and very well presented and well equipped. The rooms were bright and spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. All the rooms were of a good size and you never felt compressed or on top of each other as there was so much space inside and out. We had a lovely time and the pool was clean and just the right size for the kids and adults to use. A car is a must if you wish to see more of Crete or get to the beach. The nearest village had plenty of shops for groceries and daily essentials. The owners popped round from time to time to check everything was OK and made us a delicious desert, but they never intruded and were always very polite and friendly. I would highly recommend eating out at Giannako's if you get the chance, the food was fantastic and the hospitality and friendliness of the owner made it a great experience. Overall we had a wonderful time and I would definitely recommend the Villa Phaedra to anyone wishing to get away from it all and enjoy some piece and quiet in a pleasant village location. We were not overlooked at all and had almost complete privacy. The children were never out of the pool and the adults had space to relax around the pool or on the terraces. I would say again that a car is pretty much a necessity (to get to the beaches or the town of Rethymnon) though we liked to walk when we could. We all thoroughly enjoyed a great week and Crete has some amazing scenery.

Wonderful Villa & Holiday
Upon landing at Chania airport Alexandra requested that we ring her in order that she could meet us at the Villa, an hour later we were warmly greeted by her, and were immediately escorted around the villa and given advice and tendered instructions where appropriate. As an added bonus and before Alexandra departed we were given a tray full of home cooked pork and pasta which was so generous and very much appreciated after a long flight. This delightful Villa is in a quiet and secluded location on the southern outskirts of a quaint village called Prines. Alexandra has created a wonderful traditional Greek home with lovely things throughout, from pristine curtains to the lovely quality bedding. The house itself is equipped to a high standard which includes, microwave, cooker, washing machine (including detergent), excellent fridge freezer, flat screen tv, satellite service, eye level dish washer, internet, superb AC throughout, wall mounted safe and first aid cabinet complete with various insect bite creams, and the kitchen is fully equipped and even included all sorts of condiments, sugar, spices etc, which we thought was an excellent touch. Alexandra’s home is immaculate throughout and we immediately felt home from home. The pool is excellent size and surrounded by greenery, trees, and flowering plants and singing birds. Alexandra provided expert advice , tips and local knowledge throughout our vacation and was always on hand whenever we asked for anything, she has also provide excellent tour packs which provide great advice on all areas of interest, history and culture of Crete. What made our holiday even more memorable was the personal touch, kindness and generosity of Alexandra, during our stay we were treated to marvelous homemade lemonade, home baked Creten cake and upon arrival a decanter full of Raki which was very good and pretty potent ;) . There are two amazing tavernas, which are in walking distance of Villa, The Olive Tree , where ‘mama’ who is so wonderful will cook traditional Cretan food which is of super quality and excellent value and Giannikos, where the owner Yannis will welcome you like a family member and share his home made lemon Raki, WOW!!. The Villa is located very close to Rethymno, which is a fabulous town full of shops and and super restaurants, and several beaches very close. We would recommend a visit to the resort Platanes, the beach is beautiful. this is the best holiday we've had thank you Alexandra
