"Rooms were very clean and adequate. Rooms warm during a cold January stay. Cooked breakfast was great. Hostess Caroline was a delight. Flat 10 minute walk to city gate (see photo). So no need to park closer unless you have a walking disability. Very desirable location. The only thing that would have made it better was to let customers know in advance that parking is £12.50 @ night. No nearby free parking in sight. Don’t hesitate to stay here. "

"Dated room with peeling wallpaper, lukewarm water, and small uncomfortable bed. Certainly not worth £90. Dinner was shocking, and can only be described as a congealed bowl of slob. Meals were returned to the kitchen uneaten, but the £26 were not refunded. Breakfast was ok, but served on a dirty table with last night's drink stains on it. The only saving grace were the friendly and welcoming staff."

"Very welcoming from a call to discuss parking and check correct room was available to arriving and being meet and shown property etc. Breakfast has a good choice of cereals and toast with all the condiments and yoghurts. Very clean and modern rooms. "

"Perfect location just a short bus ride into York. Jack & Ellie are the perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble. Tea & coffee facilities available in the room which was very comfortable. Breakfast is a help yourself but Jack is on hand if you need anything. Fresh fruit and yogurts, cereals, juice etc are available. Jack recommended places to eat, which were absolutely spot on. Food in all recommended places was excellent. This is a little gem of a place to stay, while not in the city centre...
