It's also a very reasonable drive from Portal and the Cave Creek area if that's your trip goal. Our host was great. It's the perfect place to get off the beaten path for a bit. We had no cellphone service, but the wifi worked great. "

"This was our second visit to the Painted Pony and it was again a delight for everyone from the four-year old, through the tweens and teens, my grown and married children, and for Grandma and Grandpa. Lots of space, lots of fun things to do (swimming, sauna, basketball, pool, ping pong, etc. It is in the middle of nowhere, which we LOVED! Close to the Chiricahua Mts with great easy and hard hikes. The hosts were very responsive also."
