"Came a bit early but could check in early. Room was perfect , and had a sea view.. Breakfast was very good.. Evenings after 22.00 were quiet although dogs nearby started their 'orchestra' every evening around 17.00. Staff were excellent and extremely helpful especially the receptionists. They even arranged a lovely lunch packet as we had a very early flight back. This was a cozy down to earth hotel."

"We chose this property for it's location and it was perfect for being in the heart of the old city and close to what we wanted to do / see for our short stay in Funchal. We arrived on a late flight and reached the hotel about 1am (took the Aerobus for 5e it worked great). The man at the hotel reception was wonderful - kind and generous. The room was clean and basic. It's recently renovated / updated. Our only complaint is the area has several Poncha bars and it appears they are open all...

"Cute houses with a wonderful garden! The house is quite dark and humid, hence humidifier is always on; also requires some renovation. Basic breakfast though served nicely. Did not have much interaction with the host. "

"We came in late late late and were able to just zip over from the airport in a matter of minutes. There was parking super close by and it was so easy to get into the place even though it was around 12:30 a.m. It was a tiny room but it was the perfect size to just watch a little internet tv, fall asleep and wake up to the sun shining off the quaint streets and beautiful waterfront. The shower was great. There was a coffee machine and, even better, a coffee shop almost directly across the street....

"Peaceful stay amid lovely Asian themed tropical gardens, dining room, outdoor lounges and guest room. Great sunset view from our room although up 3 flights of steps - this property could be difficult if you have mobility issues. Very good breakfast buffet and there is also a cocktail bar which also serves pool snacks (we were cooked for on our first night as well - friendly staff made it clear they would try and meet such requests where reasonably possible). "During mine stay in Madeira I had a little cange in plans and so I looked for a place to stay just 3 days before the reservations. Considering it was August the price was really good, the staff immediatly put me in a Whatsapp group where different person of the staff wrote everything I need to know about payments, times and mods of check-in and check-out and they where responsive at any time for any question."

Savoy Palace - The Leading Hotels of the World - Savoy Signature

"This really is a 'leading hotel of the world'. I've been privileged enough to stay in some top hotels around the world and this was one of my favourites. Pristine inside and out. The pool area is stunning. Great bars and dining options. I liked the Galaxia Sky Bar which has fantastic views. Within a very short walk there are some nice restaurants and bars around the hotel. Fantastic breakfast with a huge choice. We had one of the Ocean View rooms on the 10th floor. It's soundproof and super quiet and we weren't disturbed by any noise. Beautiful room, well appointed. I have two minor niggles which are by design. Firstly the air con turns off if you open the balcony door. This is normal but annoyingly it doesn't come back on when you close the door (you need to switch it back on manually at the wall controller). Also I like to be able to find my way to the bathroom in the night but couldn't leave a light on. This is because theres a glass wall between the shower and bedroom. The curtain covering it lets the light through from the bathroom so it's too bright to sleep (we resorted to leaving the vanity mirror turned on and pointing it in the opposite direction). The staff are super friendly and the service is excellent. We hope to return to Funchal in the future and will definitely stay here again if we do."

"It was a nice quite property with an amazing view of the ocean. The hotel has its own shuttle service that can take you to Funchal but also across the street is public bus that is more frequent. Close by is also a swimming area as well as snorkeling equipment rental that you could get to jump in the ocean. The property has nice clean pools, sauna, spa and hammam which we really enjoy. "
