This was our second time to Playa Palms Beach Hotel. We love that it is just minutes from 5th Ave with lots if restaurants near by. The beach was badly damaged by the Hurricane this summer. There is still sand and chairs on the beach but you have to walk to swim. Its about a 5 minute walk to the other beaches. Our only complaint is the wifi is hit or miss. At times it is great, others not very good and on the rainy day we had none at all most of the day.

We stayed here for eight nights and we loved the view of the beach and the staff was very helpful and friendly!One of the days were spent indoors during a small tropical depression, which was a first time experience for us watching how rough the sea can get! Would definitely stay here again!

I have been coming here for many, many years. The hotel and grounds are immaculate. Housekeeping is great! The staff is unfailingly polite and helpful; always ready with a smile and kindness. I recommend Playa Palms without hesitation.The beach is lovely, and always clean with umbrellas and palm trees for shade for the loungers and Adirondack chairs. Very quiet at night. Very peaceful. Juli the manager,and Freddy at the front desk are terrific! I was fortunate to be there for the owners 25th anniversary party, Wow! Wonderful! What a party. Another great stay at Playa Palms 💯♥️! My girlfriend and I Loved this hotel, small, quiet, right on the beach n its secluded, we got the studio ocean front room 2nd floor the most beautiful view of playa del carmen room (214) to be exact.......THE ONLY THING i didnt like is our balcony can be accessed by anybody else thts staying in hotel....i rented that particular studio room for me because of the view from our balcony , ...some man came onto our balcony for over 10 mins taping the ocean from my balcony while me n my girlfriend were laying in bed just mins after we did mommy n daddy grown people stuff....i was upset, i didnt make a big deal about it.....the hotel needs to put up small fences with doors on them with room number on the fence to let people know that, that particular balcony is private and has people in the room.....

Around 11:30pm on the second night, we were woke up by a loud knocking on the door. I opened the door to someone shining a flashlight in my eyes demanding the IDs for my two adult children. Guy gets angry when I ask him why this can’t wait until morning. To this point, he hasn’t identified himself - it is Mexico, it is almost midnight, I just tell him no and shut the door. He kicks the door, then turns around and gets into a loud conversation with another guest across the way. My son and I pushed the breakfast table against the door and tried to get back to sleep. Fast forward to two days later, I finally get a reply from management telling me their security guard had been following protocol. Huh? It was a nice place right on the beach, close to most of the tourist shopping and restaurants. But really, who cares if you are staying at a place where management hires and excuses employees who act like that? After finding out the man worked at the hotel, it was truly strange to think, “Thank God the guy worked there”, because it felt like a Mexico horror story you see on the news from time to time. Shame on management.

Be prepared with Peso coins for the parking meter. The hotel should keep them to sale to you as it’s a huge inconvenience to have to go to the bank to get enough coins. It was a huge problem for me when I was there.

There is no parking on the property. You have to park on the street which is metered. You have to have coins to pay the meter. It does not take cards or paper money. Only coins. No one will give you coins but the bank. Therefore, the hotel should keep coins for you to buy so you can pay for parking.

We stayed 2 nights and would definitely return. Property was beautiful, clean and quiet. The room was very comfortable, clean and decorated tastefully. Everything worked properly and we even cooked dinner one night in our kitchenette. Plenty of storage for all of our things to be put away. The pool is smaller but gorgeous and clean. The staff really want you to enjoy your stay and were available as needed to help. Stay here for the Mexico beach vibe, without the noise. Loved it.
