This hotel is a good value for the location, you're right on 5th. We were in two different rooms for the two separate nights we stayed and neither room was too loud considering the location. Check in is easy and the staff is helpful. The beds are hard, but as we've found in Mexico most are. They don't have parking, but we had no issues finding street spots that were very close.

Awesome location great staff authentic Mexico
We've been traveling to Mexico since 1995 and we love the food, culture, people, history - everything. We've stayed at many all inclusives but we found ourselves over and over again venturing to local restaurants and such so this time we stayed at Hotel Banana. We noticed the place on our many walks down 5th avenue. We're so glad we did! Location is quiet enough to sleep but right near everything. Town is safe-fun. Food is great and super cheap as are the margaritas - we suggest staying her or another small boutique hotel if you want some real flavor. Staffs great - recommend here highly and you can't best the price.

The Hotel Banana met my expectations. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was some noise from 5th Avenue but that was to be expected. I would definitely stay here again.

Hotel was close to the beach, the staff were friendly and extremely helpful and the rooms were kept immaculately clean! The only downside was the pool was very small although it was so well located with the nice part of the beach it didn't really matter!

The helpful friendly staff, made our stay extra special. We had lost our safe key and with speed, grace and humor took care of all our concerns. As two single traveling girls we felt totally comfortable and safe. It is also perfectly located in Playa Del Carmen. I will recommend Banana to all my friends.

Great little hotel in a perfect location!
Hotel Banana was exactly as described - a quaint little hotel in a great location at the north end of 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen. The lobby was appealing, the rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff was friendly and very helpful considering the airline lost my luggage and it was delivered while we were out exploring - as promised it was safely put away until we returned that night. We spent two nights at Hotel Banana and it was great!!!

The bed was really hard in usual Mexico tradition, but the room was very clean. It's located on the north end of 5th Ave where it is quieter for good sleeping. For the price it's a good place to stay.

We had a great stay at Hotel Banana!! The staff was helpful and friendly, our room was clean and cute. The only negatives were that the beds were a little hard, and it was noisy all night long due to activities outside and other guests using the common area all hours of the night. Would definitely go back, great price for what you get.

Great little hotel on the North end of Ave 5
I've stayed here before and enjoyed it. It is hidden from the tourist chaos, yet right on Ave5 . The rooms have a touch of romance with towel swans and flower petals on the bed and bath. Very clean and my rooms have always faced the inside patio, with the pool below. The pool is small (maybe 10x20x5'), but we've always been the only ones in it.. so, it is the perfect size. Their breakfast (Huevos Rancheros) was bad.. eat elsewhere or just go for coffee & pastries. The beach is only 2 blocks away and a fabulous Cuban restaurant/club with live music on the weekends is 1 block north. If you are coming in by Ferry or bus and have a lot of luggage, you may want to take a taxi.

Decent small room....ask for rooms in back of hotel..Out front over 5th can get a little loud. Clean rooms yet the water and power went out around 2am not there fault i understand.However they could have been a little more accomadating still charged full price plus i was charged a premium for my cup of coffee in the morning.!!.......Would i recommend only if you get at the right price.
