"After difficulty finding and getting to the barge. (I’d recommend contacting owners - you often need a code for locked gates to get quai side - they don’t give you this information so you need to request it) we found the setting beautiful. Loved the decor in the Art Deco room of the Barge. The hosts provide everything needed, even putting milk, butter and orange juice in the fridge on arrival which was a nice touch. "The website drew me in…a houseboat on the river in Bordeaux. Nowhere did it mention how difficult itmwasmtomget to it, and it was on the ‘wrong ‘ side of the river. Without a car you were stuck there. When we opened the door, we discovered it was not the apartment we booked. First problem. Then, we the night progressed there was outrageous noice coming from the different bars down river, plus live music. This lasted until 4 a.m. we got no sleep at all. "The gite was lovely and a lot bigger than we expected, but there were only 4 of us who visited. The gite had everything we needed, and the view was lovely - across the road was a vineyard, but the gite is on a road where, although cars are few and far between, they do drive far too fast.
