"Our four night stay at Casa do Santo was FANTASTIC! The estate is beautiful, elegant and stylish, and Maria and her staff go out of their way to make you feel at home and to make you feel spoiled. The included breakfast was excellent, and so was the dinner that the estate offers upon request. Our room was spacious and lovely. "We absolutely loved our stay at Quinta da Marka! It was beautiful and on such a picturesque spot along the river. It was so relaxing and a restful spot for our honeymoon. The train station is nearby to get to other cities if you wanted to, otherwise it is quite isolated in this area. Walking over to Quinta do Crasto for a wine tasting & tour was a highlight of the area too! The Quinta offered breakfast, lunch, and dinner which was very convenient. "My husband and I only stayed one night here — we wish we could have stayed longer! Our comfortable room had a large terrace overlooking the Douro River, there is a nice swimming pool on the property and the views are beautiful! The included breakfast was delicious and substantial, and the dinner we had there was quite good. This is a family-owned place and the owner’s son Paolo, who is the manager, was very welcoming and kind. We would return! "

"This place is way, way off the beaten path. It was extremely disappointing the location this time of year. My daughter and I choose not to stay after learning that there were no amenities close by. Communication of exactly what to expect would he beneficial in choosing this place. We left anbhour after arriving, because we were both so uncomfortable "

The manager Ms. Carlota was very kind, polite and accomodative to every request.She arranged for special decrations for my daughter"s birthday. "For us, this was a great choice. A quiet location and we had a view of the river from our room and also from the common area patios. The hotel clerk gave us excellent advice to take the scenic train from the station across the street which was a wonderful experience. He also showed us a scenic drive through the wine country with a detour to a lookout point which was breathtaking. However this is a very isolated location with one restaurant next door and one across the street. We did...
