"The room I stayed in in this beautiful building was possibly one of the most beautiful I have ever stayed in. However when it came to the service of the staff there was a lot left to be desired... and this was in no means the fault of the staff of which there were only two... to run the bar and service the needs of the guests. I did feel that it was odd that every time I called the hotel before arriving that there was never anyone manning the phone, but regardless we were not put off. If I was to visit again, I would want to know that I wouldn't have to wait at an empty bar for 12 minutes before being served (I know the 2 staff, one of which was a trainee) were busy with the dining but at £270 a night, that isn't good enough and not my problem... I don't wish to seem petty but lots of other short comings occurred like being first into the dining hall and one of last to have our order taken, waiting until the end of our starter before our drinks arrived and taking far too long to reseat us when my wife couldn't read the menu because of the dim light. I get that there was only two staff and there were 10 couples in the dining room but this is a failing from a managerial point of view which I definitely didn't expect from such a seemingly highbrow establishment. "

"Exceeded all expectations. The property is beautiful, cosy, and perfectly set up for large groups. More bathrooms/ensuites than you can count, comfy linen, stocked kitchen, and a table big enough for all guests to enjoy dinner together. Extra callout to the extremely comfy chairs around the log fire, perfect for a quiet weekend of reading. Coralie is an exceptional host, responsive, informative, and friendly. If the place is available for your dates, stop reading and book. It is wonderful. We will definitely be back. "

"Our visit to Mellington Hall Country House Hotel was fantastic. The property is amazing, the staff were really attentive and amazing also. The food was superb and the service throughout was exceptional. After the meal we sat in the lovely building which has quiet rooms or an open fire. We went just before Christmas and so the property was probably quieter than during the summer months, but we definitely would return to enjoy walking in the surrounding countryside. A fantastic hotel and fantastic staff, we really enjoyed our visit."
