"Conveniently located near the shopping street of Malioboro. Hotel is generally well maintained. However the door doesn’t shut completely and I have to ensure that the door is completely shut each time I enter/leave the room. The train and traffic sounds goes on in the middle of the night. I was awoken but fortunately return to sleep quite easily, thanks to the comfortable bed. Will be a problem for light sleepers. "

The rooms are new and the beds are very comfortable also. It’s the perfect area to be if you’re visiting Borobudur and north area and also only 25 mins to Malioboro. "We liked the Colonial architecture, and the size of our rooms was very spacious. Great views of the rice fields, its lush greenery landscapes. The meals were delicious, especially the breakfast buffet. Nice variety for us. Also the staff were very welcoming and it had a cozy atmosphere throughout the hotel. "

"Really love the hotel. I picked it because of its location near the train station as I was coming from Jakarta by train, then going to the airport (there is an airport train which takes 1/2 hour). The staff is extremely nice. The breakfast was fantastic… The pool was nice! Internet was reliable, bed comfortable, room spacious, TV had English news and movies. I would definitely come back! "

Right from check in to check out, we were treated exceptionally courteously by each and every staff member with always a smile on their faces. We had a steak dinner and drinks at their rooftop lounge and the steak was prepared exactly to the specs we had asked for. Next day we took a free shuttle to the airport. "Staff was friendly and helpful. They promptly fixed a problem with our aircon. Good breakfast buffet. The rooms are not super soundproof, and we could hear the family next door quite late at night. The light switch situation was a little mystifying. Walkable from the train station if you can figure out which exit to use (we did not). "

The air is dirty from the millions of scooters and there's not much to do outside of the two big temples far out of town. Given that as the baseline, the Gaia Cosmo is a decent hotel.
