Owner Chris Kokotos offers a relaxed and serene experience at his Kaza Kokos rental property in Oceanside, CA. Chris is the consummate host. A day before arrival, I received a text from Chris welcoming our family to his home and asking when we were planning to arrive so that he could make sure to greet us to show us around. Chris made himself available throughout our stay and even though the rental property is the back-side of his home with a shared walkway from the driveway to the rental rooms, Chris never violated our privacy on us or made us feel anything but welcomed.
A note on the property itself - the rental space is almost equal size bedrooms and outdoor space. The outdoor space is warm and welcoming and display Chris' personal East Asian sensibility and tastes. Great shade covering and comfortable seating adorn the spacious back area designated for our use. The sleeping rooms and bathroom are well furnished, the beds comfortable with amenities and lots of outlets to plug and charge devices. The kitchenette off the bathroom is small but functional. If you come expecting to cook a large meal however, the kitchenette probably won't be sufficient, but the sink, fridge and microwave (along with a variety of spices!) were more than adequate for our family's needs.
The property itself sits up on the hillside overlooking the ocean and the town. One drawback is that access to the main town center of Oceanside is a short drive (or bike ride) away rather than a walk. Nonetheless, the house is in a very nice neighborhood and we enjoyed the feeling of being part of a community while we stayed here. San Diego is a 25-30 minute drive down I-5 - far enough that you will want to plan your visits into San Diego accordingly. We enjoyed having the distance while retaining the option to visit San Diego's many fine restaurants, breweries, beaches and the Zoo.
Overall, a great experience.
