"Truly an amazing experience - beautiful remote property that’s walking distance to Black Sands Beach - plenty of sea turtles and just gorgeous views with next to no one around. Highly recommend grocery shopping before going and cooking most of your meals. However there are great food truck options nearby - AMA’s kitchen and Encanto were our favorites. Bedding was super comfortable and the Murphy bed was perfect for our 3 year old and the view from our balcony was of the beach and a nice way to start our morning. Staff was super friendly and they have chairs to rent, rice cooker, towels etc that made it super convenient. 10/10 would stay again!"

"I did not realise that we were staying in a plantation village, with multiple accommodation. I had made a request for two beds and, as it was a slow time of year, we got two bedrooms. Pahala is a very cute town (and currently the only one with a grocery store as the one in Naalehu was no longer as at 28 Jan 25). The people were also really friendly. The only thing to consider is the roosters. If you want to sleep in - close the windows. We didn't, as the black sand beach was all ours at sunrise, then came back to Pahala for coffee at the Ka'u Coffee Mill. "

"Friendly owners. Great breakfasts. Rural atmosphere. If you would like to be away from hustle and bustle, this may be the place for you. I really enjoyed the private deck area in the mornings. Close to Captain Cook cove and two-step beach. "

"The home and hosts were great! The house sits on the cliffs above the ocean and the owners have created a beach setting in their yard. At first we were a little concerned about the remoteness of the home but we knew that was part of the deal. Ultimately, we decided that the location was fabulous for exploring the southern end of the big island and the setting on the cliff was amazing! We went to all sorts of places that in the past had seemed too far to go when we were based in Kona. Kīlauea, Green Sand Beach, Black Sand Beach, Ho’okena Beach, hiking in Volcanoes National Park, and more. The hosts had all kinds of books about things to do on the big island and a notebook w their recommendations, which was super helpful! (Side note- guide books state that you can rent snorkel gear at Ho’okena Beach but that was shut down during Covid. We were told that they hope to start it up again but don’t know when that will happen. Get to the beach early if you want parking.)Overall, we highly recommend this home, especially if you want to “get away from it all” and/or explore the southern end of the big island. "

"Expectations were met. The property was wonderful, exactly as stated on the site. Owners are responsive and the place was immaculate. We were extremely pleased to find fresh coffee beans and a grinder along with fresh eggs from their chickens. We stayed only one night but I would recommend two nights to fully enjoy your stay."

"Ohana house is a very special place. It is peaceful and beautiful. Come prepared with warm clothes for nights and early mornings and just enjoy being in a beautiful part of the world. Host is lovely and easy to work with. "

"Very quiet location the host was very flexible and responsive. There is no kitchen but bbq has a burner on the side. And the yurt came with all the pots and pans you would need. The yurt it self if very spacious the sky light offers great star gazing from your bed and nice natural light in the day. It is not to far of a drive from amazing attraction like black sand beach and volcano national park. I especially loved the dogs and the cats roaming the property. Wonderful glamping 10/10"
