"I travel to Bristol for work at the uni quite often, and so I’ve tried a few different hotels around Clifton. The Washington is my favourite to stay in — always low noise, always friendly staff, always comfy and clean beds. The building is a little worn down, inside and out, but if you’re looking for a consistently good, lower cost hotel to stay for a few days, this is the place."

"Great location between Bath and Bristol. Room was quite small and a little tired but perfectly acceptable. Breakfast choice was excellent, we used the restaurant one evening, the food was really good. Parking is available but it’s not a big area and is used by guests and restaurant patrons so it does get busy."

"Lovely room, we had an upgrade which was a bonus as it was a family room! It was beautifully decorated & huge! Christina was a lovely host & cooked a fabulous breakfast, hubby was very pleased with the extra bacon & sausages! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!"

"A really nice place to stay in Bath. It's a great location between the Royal Crescent and The Circus. The room was spacious with a sofa and table and chairs. The bed was very comfortable and the welcome was friendly. I really liked the Sash windows. I will definitely stay here again. The only downsides are the shower isn't very powerful, the towels could be thicker and the lounge with fireplace and honesty bar is permanently shut. Which I would have liked to have used . Maybe take the lounge...

"My wife and I visited for a show in town, and the hotel was in a great location for accessing the town centre. The decoration was unique and really pleasant, the bathroom was lovely, and the bed was very comfy. We also really enjoyed having keypads to access both the building and room so we didn’t have to worry about keys/cards."

"Decor is tired and dated. Bed linen, surfaces and crockery was clean but the stair carpets were very worn and room corners and skirting very dusty and grubby. Toilets need a good clean round the bend but seats were clean. Cooked breakfast good but only 2 cereals to choose from, no choice or brown or white toast and no tea available at breakfast. "Joe and I had a wonderful stay at The Shed. The space and size were perfect and exactly what we were looking for in a English countryside cottage stay. The bed was comfortable. "The hotel was clean and the room was nice. The swimming pool facilities were great, sauna, steam room etc. The breakfast for what it was, was great, lots of continental options and your choice of a cooked breakfast. I would definitely recommend this place and come again. Id love to write a longer review but there was no issues, everything was great."

"This might just be the best hotel I've ever stayed in. I came straight from work, upon my arrival to reception, the receptionist (Amelie/Amelia?) could not have been more welcoming. As I was checking in, I was offered a complimentary drink which was lovely. I was then offered to sign up to the free members club which I did and immediately got a free room upgrade and 2 mini bottles of Prosecco for the room as I was having a girls night with my best friend. The room was huge, the view was stunning and the breakfast was to die for. Can't wait to come back. Every second was pure bliss. Thank you so much for such a magnificent stay. "

"We had a fabulous stay at the Gainsborough. The whole experience from start to finish was perfect, the staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful and the bed was super comfy. We used the spa 3 times during the stay and it has fantastic facilities - my only one point of improvement would be to fix some of the jets in the spa so they’re all working! We stayed during the half marathon weekend and the morning of the marathon they even had gels and protein bars in reception for the runners! Such a nice touch. Perfect weekend in Bath made even better by staying at such a gorgeous hotel! "
