Horrible Experience - Misrepresented Home and Poor Customer Service
We stayed at this home and, unfortunately, could not last more than 1 night due to the numerous unacceptable issues. Upon arrival, the house was far from clean: we found 5 live flies inside, a dead fly in the freezer ice tray, and another in the refrigerator. Both the refrigerator and freezer were dirty, requiring us to clean them ourselves, and the microwave was also filthy, needing considerable effort to make it somewhat usable. We even had to sweep the kitchen floor upon arrival.
As we tried to settle in for the night, things got worse. A smoke alarm beeped continuously, the bed sheets were dirty, stained, covered in hair, and had unknown, suspect stains. When we tried to give our toddler a bath, we discovered the bathtub stopper didn’t work, the drain clogged, and there were no washcloths provided. Additionally, blown light bulbs in the bath and missing blinds in the bedroom.
The owner completely misrepresented the home and amenities. After booking and payment, the listing was removed under the pretense of no longer renting, so we could not access any listing details, pictures, or descriptions to compare what was promised. VRBO customer service was unhelpful, stating refunds were entirely at the owner’s discretion. The owner offered a small refund to “close the matter” but never followed through.
I would strongly advise against booking this property. The state of the home, poor customer service and the owner’s lack of accountability made for a distressing experience.
