This historic and very picturesque fishing village lies on the most southerly tip of the Machars and is most famous for its 13thC St Ninian's Chapel which stands on the hill, 5 minutes walk away.
There are excellent opportunities for salmon, trout and sea fishing, sailing and boat hire.
Local golf clubs welcome guests and magnificent coastal walking can be enjoyed.
The cottage is within a few minutes walk of the local hotel/pub/ restaurant which boasts lovely food, wines and real ales. The new Tea Room on the Isle offers breakfast, light lunches and refreshments all day and also has a small gift shop and houses the local post office. Newspapers and basic groceries can be bought here including bread and milk.
The Swallow Theatre, a restored and converted byre just outside Whithorn, offers seating for 48 people. It offers a range of high quality productions throughout the year.
