Great dog friendly hotel in a lovely area. A hidden gem!
Stayed here while we were attending a wedding at nearby Northside Farm. Rooms are dated but very clean, the area is quiet and the breakfasts in the bistro downstairs were delicious! No issues getting taxis around the area.
This is a lovely hotel with an incredibly kind host who works hard to make sure all of your needs are met! The room was spacious and comfortable. Would definitely recommend!
Water ran cold or super hot randomly so impossible to have a shower. No bedside tables. Terrible mattress. Uneven floor. Unstable cabinet for tea service, just walking near it made tea spill. Dodgy looking extension cord for kettle.
I had a large room at the front above the restaurant downstairs, unfortunately this meant I could hear the music and muffled conversations from downstairs all evening. The mattress was thin and uncomfortable so I did not sleep well. The shower room had an extremely small cubicle. I was charged an additional fee for paying by credit card although the fact that they were imposing this charge wasn't drawn to my attention so I didn't have the choice to pay by debit card to avoid the fee. Overall I was very disappointed with my stay and would stay at the Ship immediately over the road again in future but not at Laburnum House.

Great place for a stay near Hadrians Wall
Giovanna is an amazing hostess! We had great chats and she is warm, engaging and friendly. She made us feel welcomed and went out of her way to make us comfortable. The food is excellent, the beds are comfy and the atmosphere is wonderful.
This was our second stay at the bistro
Check in was quick and staff friendly and very helpful
Beds are very comfy and I love you can make a cuppa in the morning you can pay for a breakfast in the morning in the bistro which I can say was very nice
This is a very nice place to stay & the village is lovely with a good selection of pubs
Never disappointed
Spacious room. Clean and pleasant. . Very small shower and mattress needs replacement. Close to restaurants.

Room was comfortable and garden was a nice touch. couldn't find an adapter for an electric shaver/tooth brush or a USB socket. Very limited on toiletries so suggest bring your own.(One tiny sachet of shower gel and shampoo for a double room occupied by two people)
No reception area or anybody to greet us on arrival . Found the chef who gave us all the information and key to our room. The chef and a waiter were the only people we saw during our stay. Breakfast is a choice from a very comprehensive menu and what we had was good quality and freshly cooked to order, however, it is expensive as cereals croissants toast and even tea and coffee are charged as individual items extra to the main breakfast
