Excellent location - quiet neighborhood, near everything you need and want. Ample space - inside and out. Plenty of parking. Accessible host - timely and clear responses.
We stayed for a short trip and it was great. It was so easy to get into the city and the host was super responsive. Check in and out was very easy and accommodating. We would stay again!
Great location convenient to airport, large updated old home in nice residential neighborhood. We had a large extended family group and there was offstreet parking, enough beds, bathrooms and gathering space for our needs. Host was responsive and we had a great stay!
The check in was very simple, doors have codes so no keys to carry. Bedrooms have locks which is a nice added level of security.
The yard is great for gatherings. A small fire pit made it nice on the chilly nights. This is a great place to stay, out group of 11 had a great time.
Our family of three kids, spouses, and seven grandkids had a very nice spot to stage a day trip into NYC. The immediate neighborhood is very nice, the house large and friendly. A good place for starting and ending rest.
The property owner made our family gathering so convenient and comfortable. The house is absolutely perfect for a large group. We were 18 (7 adults and 11 kids). There was so much room in the house and the back porch and yard are added bonuses.
The house is beautiful, large enough for our big family. The upstairs bedroom is hot during the day but cooled at night. Easy 30 minute train ride to NYC Penn Station. Beds are very comfy.
Doug was great to work with. He helped arrange some groceries for us before we arrived and responded to all of our needs while we were there. My only complaint was that the house was so comfortable that we couldn’t get our kids to want to leave to see NYC:).
There is a lot that's good about this property. The owner/manager is very attentive and communication was great. One of us left an item and he had it mailed to us for no cost, which was very thoughtful. The place would probably be great in good weather as there is a large backyard and patio. As described, the neighborhood is quiet and it's about a 15 minute walk to the train. It's hard to find large homes to hold a large family gathering, so we were pleased to find it. Unfortunately, during our stay in December it was very cold and the heating system wasn't up for the job. On the 2nd floor, two bedrooms never got warm (heating didn't seem to work hardly at all) and in two they were really hot. Also, note that while the office can be set up for a 6th bedroom, it only has curtains separating it from the main living room.
From multiple arrivals at different times to make sure the babies in our crew had beds, the owner worked very hard to meet our needs. He was great to give advice on the community and what to do.
The home was beautiful, and large, and met the needs of our large group well. The home and yard were well-kept. We don't make it to this area often but if we do again we would definitely stay here again.

Provided a roof over my head...
The property has plenty of potential. The owner has done the bare minimum to get this onto VRBO and make a profit. It's really lipstick on a pig...
Our stay was amazing but please ask questions about things such as laundry and the fireplace to know where things are located and how to use them. Reason, the W/D door is locked and had to locate the key, no problem but good to know. Had a situation with the fireplace should be resolved before the next renter and please locate all smoke alarms just for safety precautions.
Host was very helpful and responded to all inquires promptly. Highly recommend
The house is located in a very nice residential neighborhood. While the house is 99 years old , it was clean and electronically updated. Its proximity to the Elizabeth train station made it an ideal location for our daily trips into New York City. It was only 35 minutes from the house to Penn Station in the city.
The only small issue was that the refrigerator did not have a filtered water dispenser/ice maker. The house did have a stand alone water dispenser which required purchasing several 5 gallon jugs of water. There was a small stand-alone ice maker which was not adequate for the 10 of us. So, we used ice cube trays in the freezer to make ice.
That was the only issue (minor) we had for the week. The house was really perfect for what we needed; a place to relax after a very busy day sightseeing in the city.
The owner, Doug, was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. The house was big enough to accommodate my large family, beautiful in design, and was clean.
The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen had everything you need for your stay, and I can't share enough about the joys of how the house was able to accommodate our large family with small children.
We got 3 parking spaces in the back of the house and there was ample parking on the street. The neighborhood is nice, safe, and provides the ability for a nice walk or jog if you want to.
The check-in a day check-out process was extremely simple and user friendly.
The house looks exactly like the pictures and the backyard is large. I loved the historic look. I would definitely stay here again with my large family.
The only surprise was that there is a family who lives in the basement, but they did not bother us (we didn't notice them until we saw them periodically wall outside to their car).
Lovely home!
Douglass was so accommodating to my large group. I traveled with a dance team of 23 and we all had ample space to hang out and sleep. We are so appreciative and it was a great property to spend the weekend :)
This home was perfect for our family of 6 and had a bedroom with 2 beds left over. The home is a beautiful older home in a good neighborhood. We enjoyed taking evening walks around the neighborhood. The kitchen was large and well stocked which allowed us to cook and enjoy time together over meals at the large dining room table. The best part for me was the sitting room/sun room off the dining room that was perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee, watching squirrels and enjoying the birds.
Came down with family for a game it was everything that we wished it would be. Very clean very spacious. Any questions that I had to ask Douglas was very quick to reply. Everyone that came was very happy with the place and we will definitely love to stay here again next visit! Thanks!
Overall the house was ok. It was unusually hot summer days in the area during our stay. The host did not turn on the AC in advance and it was really hot upon our arrival. After communicating with host, he took off the remote AC control and it got better by next day. No one use the bedroom in Attic as it was hot. The bathroom in the Attic was ok for short person. Same with extended room on the ground floor next to family room. It was not cold enough to sleep. Some of our guests just sleep on the sofa in front of TV. The house could be better in other seasons than summer. Otherwise, only 2nd floor was good with good Air conditioning from day 2. Rest of the stay was ok. We mostly took uber for around $20 to get to Penn Station and then explore Manhattan using PATH.
