Waterfront Home - Family Time Reimagined in Mid Coast Maine

Summer Camp for your FAMILY! With a nod toward a simpler time and a slower pace of life, this home will refresh your soul! The house sits on a 7-acre peninsula with water views across the property. The home has a large open living concept overflowing into the outdoors, with extensive windows flanking master and guest master suites. The lower-level welcomes family time with indoor games, movies, hanging chairs, a charming little pub and a nautical bunk room--all with natural lighting and full lower-level walkout. The property recently finished a complete update with all new furnishings on the main level and AC for the main level. Tilden Pond is a refuge of nature and tranquility; this space is not a match for party crowds or rowdy behavior. If you are looking for a peaceful refuge away from the tourist traffic, but with easy access to everything, this is your spot. Expect many species of birds, eagles, deer, lots of fish, and even our little wild turkey friends may pay you a visit. Please note that we want our guests to enjoy everything about this magical place and expect that you will leave no trace. It is magical here when you appreciate and respect the wildlife, the solitude, the peaceful mornings on the patio, the sunsets, and our neighbors and friends on the lake.

Tilden Pond is located 8 minutes/6 miles from Belfast with restaurants, a large and high-quality grocery, hiking, and all the amenities of the modern world. Oh and of course the ocean! Belfast was voted 'Best Place to Live' in Maine 2022. Belfast has a charming city center near the ocean with an abundance of shops, cafes, and restaurants including the largest flagship grocery store in the mid-coast and of course --Dunkin Donuts. You are in the heart of mid-coast Maine with easy access to Acadia National Park 75 minutes away and Portland less than 90 minutes south.

Property includes a small waterfront cottage that can be added to your stay in the main house. The cottage is not seen from the house---the Cottage vrbo number is 2517973. A great place for grandma and grandpa to give them some privacy.

Extraordinary lake house stay
Without a doubt, this has been the most lovely short term rental we have ever stayed in. From the moment you drove up, this beautiful home and invited you in. So comfortable and playfully decorated, yet it never distracted from the beautiful view beyond. Incredibly well stocked, it really felt like a home away from home. It's hard to choose our favorite room, but the screened in sleeping porch complete with swinging day bed was a family favorite. Coffee and a book on the porch with gentle rain and loons in the background? 12/10! We would not hesitate to recommend this home to all of our friends! Brava!

Wonderful Lake Escape
This is a beautiful lakefront property. The layout is very family friendly and the upstairs AC was appreciated on a few hotter than normal days. The lake is amazing. We spent hours enjoying it throughout our week long stay. This is a quiet, wonderful home and a quick 10-15 min drive to downtown Belfast. If exploring Acadia and more northern mid coast spots, it’s a great home base for summer in Maine.

Beautiful well appointed home
Could not have asked for a better, easier, and more beautiful stay. Property is natural and well cared for. The surrounding wildlife esp the bald eagles scoring their breakfast on the lake was just awesome. The home itself is designed for relaxing, playing or a great family meal. My kids enjoyed their room so much that bedtime was easy (and they want that exact room at home :) The rainy day was also easy with plenty of games, ping pong and swings for chill time. Neighborhood was quiet. We had a great week and would easily go back.

Special Lost Kitchen Weekend
We loved our stay at this beautiful property and weekend exploring Freedom and Belfast what a gorgeous area. The house was stunning and comfortable. The screened in porch and landscaping are just magical with the eagle swooping by to feed it's babies. The signs as you enter and drive down the private road to the property are not welcoming honestly very disconcerting but that is not the owner’s fault.

Wish I Had Read Listing More Carefully
Nice home with a beautiful view and lovely grounds. Communication with owner timely. But as much as I thought I had screened all of our possible vacation homes, including this one, for the presence of air conditioning given our mid-July stay, I clearly missed this one. It was a warm week and, it turns out, the house has AC only in the master bedroom. As this was a working vacation for my wife and me, we were inside most of the day, which was barely tolerable on most days, even with all the fans we could find running full bore. (Had we spent more days outside or on day trips, this would have mattered less.) The screened sun porch was a respite for me, a nice airy space off the living room, but we both could not work out there given frequent Zoom calls for both of us. We have had many summer vacations without AC in our lives, but for what we were paying for this home our expectations were different. For most months of the year, this home would be lovely. And its access to coastal towns of Belfast, Lincolnville (great lobster places on the waterfront), Camden and Rockport/Rockland is wonderful. But in the dead of summer, especially during the day time, just be aware in advance what the conditions in the house could be. Again, I want to acknowledge that I must have misread the listing, which clearly states that AC is only in the master bedroom. But I feel I need to communicate our experience so others considering this home for a mid-summer visit are aware.

Top notch experience
This is the well-loved and well-cared for summer home of a family. As a result, it is well equipped and well-maintained. It has a spectacular lake setting. This is a lovely area of Maine with lots to explore. Hosts were exceptionally responsive and pleasant. This place looks just like the beautiful photos. I will *certainly* return. Really no complaints I can think of. One note - it has lots of beds but only 2 bathrooms. This is clearly indicated in the description but it is easy to miss given the number of beds. The family also has a lovely little cabin nearby that it rents separately. If you need more space, add the cabin.

Beautifully decorated home in a gorgeous location
The house is decorated beautifully and is very well equipped with everything you would need. There is no closet space in the master bedroom but there was some hanging space in the laundry room near the master. The view from most rooms are a spectacular lake views. The owner was responsive and extremely helpful when I asked for restaurant recommendations. It was not far from Belfast and many convinces. I hope to stay again.

First Maine lake experience
We loved our stay at this lake house! The house is beautifully decorated with plenty of space for a family to spread out. Both kids and adults enjoyed the downstairs game room. Views of the lake from the house are amazing. We loved eating out on the screened porch. Very peaceful setting with an easy drive into Belfast for groceries/restaurants and also convenient to Camden and Rockland.

Fantastic Maine Experience
Great home and super view of the Lake. They call it a "pond" in Maine, but trust me, it is a lake. We watched loons, ducks, geese, a golden eagle, bald head eagles, perigrine falcons, and a long list of other birds from the deck during our stay. A beautiful home for 8 adults and an infant.

Amazing lake house
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home! The kitchen is very well equipped. Everything was nicely appointed from the outdoor deck to the bedrooms. The screened in sunroom was a great place to eat and hang out. We loved the nature and wildlife- even saw a bald eagle! This is the first place I have ever stayed where it looks better in person than it does in the photos. Highly recommend. Great communication with the host as well.

Wonderful first trip to Maine.
My husband, three daughters (ages 7, 12, and 15), and I took a road trip to Maine from central Kentucky. We wanted a house with plenty of room for us and the kids to relax and explore, and it had to have water nearby. This house was perfect for us. It was very clean and had a lot of cool spaces inside for my daughters, husband, and I to hang out and relax. My two youngest daughters loved catching frogs from the pond, and there was plenty of wildlife to watch. My husband saw several bald eagles from the deck, there was a nesting loon over from the path to Tilden Pond, turkey’s eating along the driveway, and plenty of geese and song birds. We loved staying at this house, and it helped make our visit to Maine very enjoyable. The view each morning sitting by the pond or on the deck drinking coffee was picturesque. We would definitely recommend this property to others.
