"This hotel is a real piece of history and is decorated and furnished accordingly, so don't expect king sized modern beds and air conditioning. However, if , like me, you appreciate people taking the effort to give you an unforgettable experience of how things used to be, this is the place. The town itself is a lovely reminder of what the Gold Country was like in the late 1800s with lots of old buildings along a main street. "Stayed 3 nights and could have easily stayed longer. So many fun activities around the property. We loved every minute of getting away from the everyday city life. My boys (8 & 10) and dog were in heaven. It's a fully stocked place and we actually packed too much. Just FYI we have Xfinity for Internet and cell and we didn't have service for either untill about 20 min down the hill. Highly recommend doing the guided Cavern Tour and going to the river access off Electra Rd (search Vaughts Beach)....
