"From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome by all the staff The Hotel is beautiful with original features etc It has a bowling green at the rear & ample parking We had rooms that were across from the main hotel which suited us 4 ladies as none of us are under 60 yrs ,( oldest being 82 yrs ) so not having a flight of stairs to climb was fantastic We had our own entrance to our rooms so having another door you could lock was very reassuring ( room no.11&12 ) The beds were very comfy & the rooms were well heated & roomy The showers were extra large with lovely soft towels The welcome tea tray was well stocked & they also left biscuits which was an extra little touch They had thought of everything you could possibly need We had continental breakfast the next morning with ham, cheese’s , boiled eggs, toast, cereals, muffins, fresh fruit & yoghurt (weekday is continental £7.50 weekends all the above plus a cooked breakfast choice £10.50 ) We did not have an evening meal or use the bar as we were on the Polar express experience at 6pm Lovely Hotel we shall be returning in the future as we go to North Norfolk frequently We spent the next morning shopping in Dereham town centre which we had never visited before very charming & some lovely individual shops 10/10 from all of us "

"Bartles Lodge is a gem of a hotel. It’s situated in a very peaceful and serene village, making it the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of day to day life. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and cosy, offering all the amenities you’d expect and more. While subjective, I found the bed to be one of the most comfortable I’ve had in recent memory. When it comes to breakfast, the spread on offer is fantastic: cereals, toast, pastries, chocolates, fruits and a selection of cooked offerings. The wonderful owners go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and looked after; they couldn’t have done more to make us feel at home. After living out of business hotels for the past two years, Bartles Lodge was a welcome breath of fresh air. If I find myself needing lodging in the area again, I’ll be looking to book here."

"Lovely cottage. The cottage was very clean and had all amenities needed. Welcome hamper for both adults and dog was a lovely touch. Hot tub was fantastic. Location was great only a 10 min walk to local pub and various dog walks. Would definitely recommend. We had dinner in local pub ‘The Lodge’ which was very good."

"Cleanliness was spot on, even to my high standards. Appreciated the little details dotted around the place too. Purpose of the visit was to see some family members so when we return (hopefully in the not too distant future), I will certainly strongly consider returning. "

"Could be nice property but major TLC needed. Bedding is very poor and new beds needed. Small room ceiling is falling down, badly stained from leaks in above bathrooms. Bathrooms need showers fitted properly and bath sealant sorting out. Ivy growing into main bedroom. None of the doors close properly. Kitchen very dated, under sink is rotten. Dish washer needs sorting. Needs more kitchen equipment. I thought we were in a courtyard with swimming pool and children's play area. Not so we were further up the lane so lot of noise from busy road. Pool was fine. Children's play area dangerous, rotten, trampoline broken! I was very disappointed especially what I paid for half term. I have owned holiday let's and I would not let out a property the way this one is let out. Would I recommend? Definitely not, not until it is brought up to a good standard."
