"The hotel was good choice as we had renter car and could go everywhere on the island. It was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The ocean was not the best beach in zanzibar but this is not the hotels fault. "

"Hotel was closed for renovations and they didn’t inform us before we arrived. We had to look for an alternative place to stay at night and Expedia was not helpful either with finding another hotel. I would never recommend this place because of the lack of communication and inconvenience caused! "

"Answar the manager is a wonderful caring person who could not do more for Tam and I on our honeymoon. Took photos of us on the beach and advised us on all the local traditions. The seafood was the best."

"Is a basic beachhut set up. Basic huts set a few mins walk back from beach. Cheap and good option. Rooms are basic and functional but low end as to be expected at this price. Lively bar, more of a independent traveller vibe than many Zanzibar resorts. Food in restaurant was quite fine."

The staff was great, the chef made amazing meals, the property manager (Donna) was really great - she set up tours, dinner reservations and gave us some great recommendations for activities and things to do. "We stayed 2 nights in Sunshine Bay Hotel. We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel, and I can't recommend it highly enough! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly attentive and welcoming, ensuring that we felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout our stay. Every request was met with a smile, and they went above and beyond to make our experience seamless. The hotel facilities were top-notch—everything was pristine and designed with comfort in mind. The room was spacious, beautifully appointed, and offered every amenity I could need. The attention to detail in both the public spaces and private rooms truly stood out. Whether it was enjoying a delicious meal at the hotel restaurant, relaxing by the pool, or simply taking in the stunning views from the beach, every aspect of the hotel exceeded our expectations. I left feeling fully relaxed and refreshed and can't wait for my next visit!"

"I’m so happy I decided to spend my 30th Birthday here!! Everyone was so nice and showed great hospitality! Irene the front desk staff was so sweet and accommodating. The food at the main restaurant was pretty good and I didn’t even bother trying out the other two restaurants. I will definitely be returning!!"

"Lovely place to stay. Food was ok. Room very spacious and beautifully decorated. Massage was absolutely beautiful. The staff were very attentive and friendly, the manager was a bit of an opportunist and will try get extra $$ when he gets a chance. Overall beautiful place. Would definitely recommend."

"I am a solo female traveller. Zanzibar House is an excellent property in so many ways. The staff are friendly and helpful. The grounds are a delight to be in, with lots of comfortable places to sit and read or contemplate the beauty of the area. I did not use the pool and I am sure it would be lovely. At night time I had an evening meal which was tasty and they accommodated my dietary requirements very well. I am gluten intolerant. I recommend this hotel if you like quiet and beauty filled places "
