"I was informed about being on the 4th floor in advance of my stay, which was not a problem. However, the stairway is steep and has many doors to pass through. The room itself is compromised for height by being in the eaves but not a problem for a solo traveller. Would be a different review if I had been offered this"luxury" double room as a couple"

When I managed to reach the responsible person, they sounded frustrated on the phone, as if it was my fault they hadn't fulfilled their responsibilities properly The advertisement was ambiguous, and I wasn't aware that the bathroom was separate. "Absolutely lovely place to stay. Bill is a lovely host and makes a cra king breakfast. Rooms and all areas are really clean and welcoming, bed is comfy and there is everythi.g you need for a stay away. Short walk to Whitby pavillion, pubs, cafes and restaurants and 10 minutes wander to the centre. Thoroughly recommend. "

The location of the cottage is the biggest plus, but it is also appreciated that the owners are generous in providing all the little extra things within the cottage to help you make the most of your time away. Great Value Stay with Comfort and Cleanliness

"I recently stayed at this budget hotel and was so impressed that I ended up staying an extra night! The room was spotless, and the bed was incredibly comfortable, thanks to the high-end Hypnos mattress—super supportive and perfect for a restful night's sleep. The bathroom was another highlight: a piping hot shower with excellent pressure, plus some lovely soaps that added a nice touch of luxury. However, I did run into a small issue: the hand soap wasn’t refilled after it ran out on the first night, even though I had daily housekeeping. It wasn’t a huge inconvenience, but it was a little surprising given the otherwise great attention to detail. The only other downside was the brown, dated decor, which feels like it could use a refresh. It's a bit stuck in the past, but honestly, that didn’t impact my stay much at all. Overall, the hotel offers incredible value for money, and I’ll definitely be back! "

"Although hotel is obviously having parts refurbished there was no detrimental impact on guests. Staff were extremely helpful & friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Food in the restaurant was excellent. We felt valued as guests & thoroughly enjoyed our stay"
