"Great location and easy parking (discounted rate provided at hotel - simply park up and pay at Reception). Our room was spacious and comfortable with double aspect windows looking out towards the river. Could do with a little TLC (extractor fan not working in the bathroom and toilet flush not great!) but nothing that affected our stay. "I like its history and the Staff are excellent. I disliked: a) Wasting so much milk. I only needed a small spoonful. b) Morning shower.......the water was tepid at the most despite the fact that I reported it and was assured it would be better next day. c) Noisy, especially on Friday night. I could feel the bedroom floor vibrating. d) I found the dinner menu very limited after the first evening. "

"We were greeted with a big smile and enjoyed friendly service throughout our stay. Our room was clean, warm and very comfortable. Both our dinner and breakfast at Royal Oak were delicious and served with a smile :) I warmly welcome Royal Oak for any length of stay and will definitely visit again."

"I stayed in one the cottages and it was super; clean, cosy & warm and designed to a high standard. The private garden a great addition. The restaurant and food is good quality and I thought priced reasonably. Chilham is a pretty village and the White Horse Inn is also super for a drink with the locals. Canterbury is a short drive, or train journey so a great place if you want to visit the city but be in the country. I loved it. "

"A very comfortable 3 day stay in this Village Inn with very warm welcome and friendliness throughout - informal but professional. Cleanliness of both room and bathroom excellent with some extras provided in both. Food and menu also excellent. Ideal location to visit Canterbury (Park and Ride close by and very easy) and nearby coast. A lovely stay. "

"Very cute place with uniquely designed, quirky rooms. I loved it! I really appreciated all the thoughtful touches (fudge, cold milk, port, selection of teas and coffee). I needed to leave earlier than breakfast was served, so was provided with a breakfast hamper, which was absolutely wonderful! Very, very good service in the restaurant too. "

"The room had excellent facilities, was attractively furnished in keeping with an historic building and village and spacious. Staff were kind and considerate and thoughtful, much appreciatrd as we are in 80s. Menu allowed for variety of choice, food well presented. Highly recommend New Flying Horse to.all and commend owners for such a high class. well run business at reasonable price "

"Great location right opposite the pier. Rooms are very generous and the beds very comfortable. Parking was easy also as there is a carpark just behind the hotel (council operated). "

"We are a group of 8 ladies enjoying a weekend away and we had a wonderful weekend at Downs Cottage. The property was perfect… comfy beds, well stocked kitchen, beautiful decor, superb location, sauna was a bonus and the garden was very pretty. Deal itself was a very welcoming town, friendly people. We’d recommend Margarita’s for take away pizza and Mike’s Bikes for cycle hire. Walking distance into Deal from the cottage was about 30mins, which along the seafront was no time at all. "Lovely hotel, rooms were well appointed. 4*. I had a small double room with ensuite. Shower. Missed a fridge being in the room though. Parking is limited at the hotel but plenty of free parking to the side on road. Avoid parking under trees as lots of seagulls around...! Friendly staff. Nothing is too much trouble. Lovely breakfast. Full traditional English and buffet continental. Hotel has a Victorian feel about it. Lifts were all working. West end of Folkestone. By beach and easy to walk into the centre along by the sea. Highly recommended."
