My visit to Malawi was too brief, only a couple of days, and I had no time to sightsee. The Blantyre and Kamaze area are surrounded by mountains. I wish I could have seen more of the countryside. I loved this quaint little grocery store on the side of the highway.

"I spent an amazing six nights at Baobab backpackers lodge. It definitely felt like home and I was genuinely sad to leave. Aron (the owner) made sure I had everything I needed, recommended places to go and organised a return private taxi service (at a very reasonable rate) for me to go hiking at Michiru Nature Sanctuary (highly recommend!). His staff Tiyamike and Abdulrahim were very helpful and great people to chat to about Blantyre and advice for getting around on your own, which I often...

"Hotel facilities are in excellent condition and clean. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. I was provided a free upgrade on one of my two nights there. Hotel is located a considerable distance from the main commercial area of the city (e.g. 1-hour walk from the government buildings), meaning to go anywhere effectively requires a taxi, but otherwise the hotel area felt safe and secure."

"I always feel comfortable and well cared for at Chinyonga House. I will return there each time I visit Malawi. The staff is very nice and can help you arrange transportation. The dining area can accommodate business partners or friends if you would like to invite someone to diner. It is very close to the Museum of Malawi and regional shopping districts. The guest house is also near a bus stop if you would like to visit the Malawi University of Science and Technology. "

The best place to stay on the lakeside

"I loved this little place, thought it was the prettiest and most charming along the beach. Having a bar and restaurant onsite was definitely a bonus. The staff are lovely and I would really recommend doing the sunset boat trip with snorkeling and eagle feeding. Overall excellent value, so much so that we thought we were undercharged for all our food and drink!"
