"We enjoyed staying in an area that was very walkable. Liked walking down for dinner and banana cake in the morning."

"Burkey's place is beautiful, well stocked and relaxing! We went with two young kids, and we enjoyed the ability to wash our clothes and make dinner, while still being in a unique Jungle setting. Would definitely recommend, especially to a couple or two couples traveling together. "

"High quality stay with comfortable bed and chairs and a great terrace with a view and pool. Hospitality and friendliness were superb. We got fresh fruit and vegetables coming from his own land."

"What a great experience! We loved the open living plan with its outdoor shower, the kitchen over looking the valley, the gardens, all the wild life, and I could go on and on! The location made it easy to experience many of the hiking trails and other activities we enjoyed. Host was awesome and we hope to return! Sooner rather than later!!!"

"Overall we loved it, though it would have been good to know that you can't drive to the hotel if you don't have a proper 4WD as it is located at the end of a long and steep tarished road. Luckily the hotel offers an transport service for the dirty road between 8am and 5pm. They also offer food(preorder only) and drinks at the bar. The staff was very nice and always helpful. Our favourite was the weekday driver. The cottage had a very nice kitchen unfortunately not much utensils in it... Being so...

"Stayed here for 4 nights, the cabin is very interesting. It is in the lovely garden of the owners, a little bit outside of the main street in Calibishie, so better to have a car. The kitchen is great, bathroom also, however there is no airconditioning. The view is awesome from the hammock and terrace. The owners are very nice and friendly. Thanks!"

"Remy and all of the staff were simply the most genuinely kind, caring and gracious ever. When i arrived at the resort it took me over three hours talking to the security guard about the beauty of the resort before i actually went into my cottage. The scenary and grounds were unbelievably gorgeous. The cottage natural wood was so warm, clean and inviting. The units are very large with a very large verandah on both sides at the cottage. "Stayed at Kootney Resort for the purpose of quarantine. Stayed in a two bedroom apartment. Apartment was very spacious, each bedroom had AC, lots of fruit trees on property plus a river near by. Overall very pleasant stay."

"The new owners were really friendly and full of local knowledge. So was Pascal the taxi driver they arranged to pick us up. But we were also given lots of privacy. The view is amazing from the studio cottage. It was well appointed and comfortable, had good wifi. It could use a memory foam for the bed though. The grounds were clean and the whole Calibishie area is safe. Dominicans are soooo friendly! "

Satisfying stay

"Beautiful stay near Atlantic coast with spa and restaurant on site. The food was all delicious; the pool refreshing and nearby river and ocean spectacular, watched the sunrise every morning from the benches near the beach and had dinner every night at the restaurant - pizzas and everything on menu fantastic as are the drinks from the bar "

"Quiet and comfortable atmosphere. Great view of the sea and mountains. Tamara (staff) was incredibly warm, helpful and welcoming. She ensured I had everything that I needed. The room was huge, clean and cozy and well maintained. I appreciated the peaceful surroundings. Hotel Champs is an excellent choice for travelers seeking an affordable, quiet stay. I highly recommend it! "

"I absolutely recommend anyone visiting Dominica to stay here. I had an amazing stay thanks to the staff and the beautiful nature all around. Very comfortable and relaxing. I travel a lot and always stay in hotel, but this is a place of serenity. Highly recommend to stay here for a different experience from your typical hotel. You really get to take in the island and all its beauty."

"I wish I'd had more than one night to relax at this little gem of a hotel on a little gem of an island nation. The hotel arranged a taxi from DOM airport, and I was welcomed warmly and thoughtfully upon arrival. My particular needs were met with great care. My room, really a suite, was well appointed and included a fully stocked kitchen. Everyone on staff was polite and accommodating. I had a late lunch at the hotel's restaurant. My meal was good, but the heat in the no-AC dining room and the constant need to shoo away flies made it a somewhat uncomfortable experience. This was the only downside, and it did not put any sort of damper on my stay. I look forward to returning if life takes me back to Dominica."
