"The house itself was okay. Cleanliness could have been better, spider webs on doors, cupboards and even the sofa when we arrived. Rooms were spacious though poorly lit, giving everything a bit of a dim, creepy feel. Décor could do with a major update but this is as shown in the pictures so this doesn't affect my rating, but the mirrors that are hanging off electrical wires pulled from holes drilled in the wall were a bit concerning! "Owner called after reservation that there's some pipe related problem in the house and offered an apartment in the middle of Funchal. From the pictures it looked good but when I got there I realized that the apartment was really dirty. Stains in the towels, sheets and in the toilet. I also found cochroachs inside the apartment during the second night. That's when I decided to leave. Owner gave most of my money back."

"We loved the location of the house. The rooster was really frustrating, and the parties at the bar next door made sleep a bit difficult. Host was great. "

"Carolina was a great host! The place was clean and so peaceful up on the mountain side near the airport. Under 30 min drive to the main trails or Funchal. The only downside is the roads leading up to the property were quite steep and narrow-you definitely have to be a decent driver. Cannot wait to stay there again. "

"Perfect for just the two of us. Tastefully decorated and very roomy. Off the beaten tourist track which suited us down to the ground. Another couple staying with us, though, would've presented bathroom difficulties. Steep flight of stairs to bedrooms could be tricky for anyone with mobility problems.
